Can someone please explain the Log Cabin Republicans to me?
I mean are they masochists, or just really, really stupid? What's the point. The Repugs don't want us fags to have any civil rights, and some don't even want us to exist, yet this band of nuts stands by their party and talk about making a change. Where's the change going to take place? After Asscrack, Frist, Santorum, McConnel, DeLay, Lott, etc. are dead?

Maybe it's just me... but I just don't get it...

11. Yeah and then they tell the gay community that Repubs are only
knuckledraggers because of tobacco money that funds right wing causes and if gays would just quit smoking then things would be better...republicans are our friends...these fucking bastards are so full of themselves, that I can barely stand in the same room with them at gay community fundraisers...and CANNOT shut up ...it always comes to blows.

3. They're a group of rich gay men who can't get laid
So they made a club, the Log Cabin club (points for guessing what the log cabin really is), so they could attract money-worshipping twinkie prostitutes and other "loyal" types to themselves and get laid more often.

Oh, and they claim to be Republicans and vote Republican, but that's just a side issue. It's all about getting that cabin filled with logs.

6. Log Cabin Republicans are to me
like that Malkin woman and other minority Bush lovers. They work against the interests of their own kind and their own rights because money becomes more important than principles. As long as they have money they couldn't care less what happens to the rest of the gay community.

22. Listening to Janeanne Garafalo this afternoon,
She called them part of the pee-on-me Republicans, which she described as anyone who voted Republican against their own interests, like gays, union members and women.

7. I Know A LOT Of Them...sadly...
They are your typical freeper asshole in EVERY SINGLE WAY! NO DIFFERENCE!

oh yea, except they like to have hot sweaty sticky gooey nasty man-on-man monkey sex.

They will defend religion, republicans, BUSH, the neocon agenda to their dying breaths. When I ask them about Bush's stance on gay rights, they say "that's not as important to me as national security of the economy. Tell me this, what good are gay rights if you've been killed in a terrorist attack?"

And when I ask them If they are masochists, they say "You know, the only people who ever have a problem with me being gay and republican are DEMOCRATS! You know you people preach to be so accepting but you pick on anyone who doesn't agree with you. No one at my church cares that I am gay, and my parents support me 100%. At least I am not some edgy elite liberal who hates anyone who doesn't agree with you."

Yea... :eyes:

8. I spoke to one at a party a few weeks ago and he gave me a good answer.
They are making a dignified effort to be part of the Republican Party. I think the word he used was better than "dignified", but I can't think of it. Someone, he said, should be doing it as theoretically both parties should have a cross section of our society.

Where is it written that they have to be conservatives? Here in Illinois the Republicans have been a party of moderates, after all. The fire eaters are trying to destroy that, of course, and they are doing a damn good job of it.

Unfortunately, he told me, the Republican Party isn't open to their dignified effort. I think you will see a lot of Log Cabin Republicans voting for Kerry this time around.

10. Probably just really, really stupid
A true oxymoron...a gay repub is like being a black repub, or a black supporter of the KKK, or...get the picture? The two just should not go together. I have a rich, gay, repub friend (sort of) and as far as I can tell, it's all about greed. He loves all of the additional $$$ he's getting from the tax cuts and couldn't care less about the rest of humanity. It's pure selfishness.

18. They are sell outs
To me, a gay man, they are traitors. They climb into bed with people who would just as soon have them shipped off to Siberia as shake their hands. Why? For the love of money. I would rather be a poor gay man with some dignity than a rich sell out.

21. They are just typical Republicans, if you think about it
Because, lets face it. 90% of all people voting Republican are doing so against their own best interests, and against the best interests of society.

They either don't know, or don't care.

I mean, Log Cabin Republicans are the first group of loyal supporters to get completely fucked over the the Party. And they certainly wont be the last.
