Just got off the phone and he personally is going to call me back regarding this Purple heart issue and since he has met with me on several occassions the lady said no problem he will call me back, I will speak for all of us here and all VETERANS regarding the band aid stunt. He campaigns with Kerry, he will get the message to him about our OUTRAGE !

I just wrote my Repuke Senator and demanded that he condemn this shameless slap in the face to our veterans, particularly given the number of wounded we have RIGHT NOW in Iraq.

I mentioned that my father was a life-long Republican, a combat veteran, an Air Force officer and he would have been shocked and heartbroken at the hee-hawing going on last night with these bandages. I told him that our veterans and military families are NOT amused.

I won't hold my breath for an answer, or for him to condemn this horribly demeaning activity.

To the Sun-Sentinel, South Florida. It Goes like this:

Dear Editor:

In their clumsy and malodorous attempt to malign John Kerry, the Republicans have insulted every decorated veteran who has risked his life for the United States.

Convention attendees have been wearing band-aids with a purple heart on them. As if it were not enough to have only the Swift Boat Liars denigrate every medal holder who ever served, the entire party now supports the notion that the military services give out medals to those who don't deserve it.

Could these Republicans be living the dictum of H.L. Mencken, "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

I used to think that was posed facetiously. The Republicans appear to have written it into their platform.

You say you have met with him on several occasions. I met with my Congressman last week. I urge everyone to try to meet with theirs.

Every Congressman and woman is up for election. If you have a Rep that won't meet with you, go to their opponent and tell them about your experience. Tell your local media.

Once you do meet with your Congressman, just like with Vetwife, he (she) will be more inclined to take your call and pay attention to what you say in the future.

If you're nervous about the meeting, find another constituent or two and go together. You don't have to belong to some group. In fact, it could be more powerful to have a rash of 2 - 4 people coming together to speak with their Congressmen face to face.

I called my rep this morning - office was unaware of band-aids. I told them I wanted to see him as soon as possible re: these attacks on vets and PNAC, am waiting for a call back. I have been calling and sending letters all day - disgusting is not a strong enough word.
