I'll start it off with what has been working for me, actually two things as of late because of a new commercial here in OH:


Typical Bush Supporter Idiot:

"I support the war in Iraq because they hit us on 9.11 and Saddam had all the WMD's and etc etc etc" you know the line you get.


WLKjr:

"Well, isn't that special. Okay, go sign up to go to Iraq. And 20 years ago, Republicans sold WMD to Saddam. So you go fight in Iraq if you support it so much."


Typical Responses back range from:

1. Head explodes
2. "I can't, I'm too fat." (yes, I was told this yesterday by a freeper and his whole freeper table at school who I literally TORE APART ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS with looks of shock and awe gazed upon me :D )
3. "I can't, I'm an only Child"
4. "I can't, I'm still in school."
5. "I can't, My parents won't let me."
6. "I can't, I do what my dad tells me."

and on and on.

See a pattern here? Does the word "Excuses" mean anything?

That's right, they all have an excuse for something wrong....

Republicans sound like a rotwiler, but have about as much bite as a miniature dachsund.

I would eventually like to post up a so called "handbook on how to tear apart Bush supporters arguments" thread with responses I get from here. DU'ers, contribute away with your own responses to RW talking points.

6. Easy way out.

If they're smart (and I'll let you have the easy slam here) they'll just point out that your whole attack is ad hominem. The fact that they are fat or cowards or ruled by their parents has no actual bearing on their argument. Of course they also kinda have to admit that they are fat or cowards or whatever.

That said, I guess your put-down is still a pretty nice little zinger. It just pisses me off when on shows like Cross-Fire and what not that there is no discussion of events just each side's representitives trying to get in little zingers before the other side can respond. Sorry, just a personal pet peeve.

15. Another approach is to question every point they make

Every "conclusion" requires a few assumptions. Don't concede any assumptions, question every statement. That way, they'll be forced to spend the next 60 days just trying to reconstruct reality (like we see them doing at the convention). They can't make a point if we don't agree on reality, and their version of reality is fictional so they don't have a point. It's really very simple. This is what Chomsky has done for years.

Bushista- I'm for smaller government and less taxes.

Me- Did you know Clinton's government was smaller than Reagan's, Bush Sr's, or Bush Jr's? Did you know with the increases in property tax, state and local sales taxes, state gasoline taxes, and on and on you are paying more in taxes?

Bushista- Democrats are just tax and spend freaks.

Me- Did you know that more people got tax cuts during Clinton's term than with Bush's tax cut? Did you know Clinton balanced the budget and created a surplus for the first time in over 30 years? Did you know Bush blew that surplus in just one year? Did you know...

Bushista- Fuck you!

Me- No thanks. Bush has fucked us enough!
