Whats this about the "ownership society"?
Sure Social Security is shakey right now (no thanks to Bush rading it to pay for his war and tax cuts), but do we really want our social security to be at the whim of the market? I know I don't. Maybe some people want to gamble their future on the market...sure you can double your SS if your stock goes up, but what about those of us who lose it?

Does Bush have that much blind faith in the market? Its Market as God. And you know who benefits from the market- Bush and his business pals.

1. It's not faith. Money in the market is a boon to only the companies we
invest in.

For that's when they cash out and value fluctuates.

There's much more to it than that, but when * talks of anything involving money, the message is damn clear: For the wealthy and we rot.

2. ALL Old Stuff
All of this "ownership society" stuff is just a rehash of the same ideas he had four years ago. And even with a radical Republican controlled Congress these plans went NOWHERE.

7. There was an economist on C-span this morning...he said
this ownership deal was a total crock of shit (paraphrased by me :))

It would leave way too many people without a safty net in the event they didn't know jack about "investing" their money... It's a dangerous idea; so said this fellow on the program. Look it up there on their site for more info.. was interesting.

8. Ya see when you are a wee baby, you are given a lock box
to put all your money in to take care of yourself. Then when you are 80 years old, the republicans take it, and give you another lock box to fill.

10. It's The Frank Luntz Inspired
cover for repealing the New Deal programs which have contributed so much to the growth and the prosperity of the middle class . If W , Norquist and Cheney have their way social programs will be cut to the bone . This is truly the most important election I have seen in my 58 years .

11. It works like this...
Wall street scammers talk to naive gullible American citizens and tell them how they can retire rich. Said citizens invest their privatized SS funds in said scams. Lose their shirts and are left on the street.

Much like the Enron retirement fund.

And you thought his first term was a nightmare
What Bush has planned for America if he wins.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Charles Tiefer

Aug. 25, 2004 | .... Under Bush's slogan of an "ownership society," the Republicans intend a long-term effort, using changes in Medicare, Social Security and taxes to pit better-off and worse-off Democrats against each other, offering all-but-irresistible incentives for some to desert the others -- and any progressive national coalition. .... A second-term Bush agenda will constantly impale Democrats on the dilemma of abandoning their poorer, sicker, older and minority groups, or seeing their better-off, healthier and younger members lured off to the other party. If it sounds like a political nightmare for the Democrats, that's because that's what it is planned to be. ....
