One more thought about Zell Miller
Lets all remember one thing. This speech was deliberately planned as a "gotcha", a precedent-setting KEYNOTE speech, by a Democrat that totally back-fired. He wasn't even allowed to sit with the family tonight.
Of all the mistakes made, this is the one that should be remembered. And he sure didn't make it any better in interviews that followed.
He and the RNC(Really Not Compassionate) squandered a golden opportunity.
I hope the DNC will not do the same.

Go Kerry/Edwards!!!!

The DNC will NEVER welcome Zellout Miller back with open arms . I think he is too senile to care what anybody thinks about him at this point .

Scenile yes. Careless no I don't think so. He was doing this for the lime light and money. What other reason could there have been? He has outlived his usefulness and got tossed out like a (pardon the pun) used condom. He is no longer of any use to the Shrub family and you can imagine what they do to you then....

PS He is retiring and won't seek reelection. So he doesn't care much for the DNC anyways....

22. Reasons
Limelight and money, yes. But there is another and perhaps more cogent reason Zell has become such a bitter old man. He has always had a sense on inferiority because of his 'hill-billy' origins. Throughout his career he has been thin-skinned and quick to strike. I think he somehow got it into his poor old head that the Republicans could kiss his psychological boo-boo and make it all better - that he just might finally get some respect from the party of the 'Big Tent'. Alas, poor sad old Zell blew it again. Please pity him; he used to be better than this. I am inclined to agree with those on this board who suspect that he may be in the early stages of dementia.

of idiots were wildly cheering a speech that was obviously cribbed from a familiar rw spam email. This showed an utter lack of sophistication and naivete on the part of the assembly.

6. He outlived his usefulness...
And got tossed aside.....

PS I have a theory that he might have had business dealings and Pappy Bush turned him down after the speech which might have set him off...

7. I said it before, and I'll say it again:
They didn't realize when they bought ol Zell that something that comes cheap isn't always a bargain. Too bad for them, eh? They can have him -- we've been trying to figure out how to unload Zig Zag Zell for a year or so, now!

Thank you for keeping a level head about it. As Ceci Connely said," If he's not a Democrat talking at the Republican convention then we aren't atlking about him."

12. They are unraveling.
I'm sure Gillespie, Rove, and Bush thought that Zig-Zag Miller's speech would be the payback for having Ron Reagan, Jr. speaking at the DNC. They are crazy that way. (They definitely weren't shooting for an Obama analogue; they were pleased enough that most viewers didn't see the DNC's keynote speaker.)

I'm telling you everyone, by this time next month, there will serious infighting going on at the GOP. It may not be obvious on the surface, but I'm expecting a lot of resignations in the coming weeks, when the GOP sees they're numbers slipping even more.

16. True Walrus (Rove) and Skank (Hughes).....
Don't like each other. Skank was on with Wolfie, Judy, and Jeff and it looked similar to what Zell did yesterday. She was totally on the defensive........

20. Did they screw up or what?
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 04:16 AM by Cat Atomic
I can't believe they made Miller's hateful rant the keynote of the convention. All they had to do was put on a moderate face for a FEW DAYS, but they just couldn't manage it.

Miller was a disaster, of course. But how about Schawarzeneggar! He openly praised Nixon, who's name is still synonymous with government corruption to most Americans. Nixon plays well with Ann Coulter fans, sure- but that's about it.

I'm convinced that Rove and Karen Hughes are both highly overrated. I've never seen a campaign that regularly displays such overt stupidity. They really are completely out of touch.
