My letter to Matt Lauer
Dear Mr.Lauer:
I hope the Bushes and Mr.Rove are paying you quite well. I didn't notice this type of interrogation of the Swift Boat Vets. Your bias is sickening; these allegations are not new and the information is out there if only you reporters would do a bit of investigative reporting.
Please reconsider your sell-out to the White House; many in our country, unfortunately, still depend upon shows like yours. Hopefully in the future more people will be able to turn to internet sources that are not afraid to tell the truth.
I'm sorry I can't print my name because because both my husband and myself work for the state of Florida and we have a VERY vindictive governor.
Signed,
Anonymous in Tallahassee

2. HIs drilling her about "No tape-recorder!" versus 2 (3?) witnesses was
pretty funny coming from s spokes-model-infotainment guy. He's now the self-apponted arbiter of acceptable journalistic standards? HA!

6. Let's go easy on Matt
He didn't sign up for this. This generation of "news" people that have been developed over the past decade are really no more than readers. Number 1, they don't know how to be journalists. They didn't train for it. They spend more time on their make-up than they do doing research. Number 2, since they are really spokesmodels, their fragile cognitive abilities are easily molded. This makes it possible for a few white men to control an many of them as possible.

So when we expect these guys to learn a subject and crtitically but objectively interview someone, we're going to be disappointed.

Lauer ain't Cronkite.

I am seeing more exposure for the real journalists. But they have to write a book to get face time.

7. Screw Lauer. He was aggressively negative in his Kelly interview.
I can't imagine that he would be even one-tenth as aggressive or critical of any of the Swift liars. Did Lauer ever interview any of them?

Lauer was *RABID* on Kelly -- a stark contrast to his lapdog performance in his interview w/ Shrub a few weeks back (though politically consistent).

9. Nope -- I still expect some degree of professionalism
>>So when we expect these guys to learn a subject and crtitically but objectively interview someone, we're going to be disappointed.>>

You don't need an advanced degree from the Columbia School of Journalism to know that when you are reporting the news, or interviewing a subject on a general news-type show such as Today, you stick to the Five W's -- who, what, when, where, why. You do NOT let your bias interfere with your reporting. You do NOT interject clearly editorializing comments such as Lauer did with his interview with Michael Moore a few weeks back, and what Fox "reporters" do on an almost hourly basis. You do NOT take a hostile stance with your interviewee, no matter how much you may disagree with him/her. YOU report; the PUBLIC decides (a linchpin of responsible journalism that has been hijacked beyond all telling, and not just by Fox).

If the press in this country is to remain truly free, it's time we called out the media EVERY TIME they foist their agendas -- or that of whoever owns them -- down our throats. Otherwise we should all just drop the pretense that we can get objective reporting in this country anymore and accept that all we have is a gigantic propaganda machine.

10. the corollary to that is the fear factor
when these guys are powdering their foreheads they also worry about their safety. They don't have the intestinal fortitude to make any stand against what they perceive as the power.

13. Go easy on him??
This guy is a complete fascist shill. He even shaved his fucking head like a good Nazi to announce his total defection to the neocons. He's every bit as biased as any of the FAUX morons, but he gets away with it because he's on a network percieved as more "credible" (even though it's owned by a defense contractor)

11. Hello Dem in Tally!!
Looks like a morning for Tallahassee dems to snipe back at the media. This Tallahassian just wrote NPR that he would no longer be listening to their news offerings, after hearing Juan Williams sickening Bush Cheerleading political analysis that all but shuts Kerry out of the whitehouse. Go Tallahassee!!! :toast:
