Newsflash Spidey: Enron must have had SOME cash in order to settle, right?????? What makes you think there isn't a shitload more stashed around the globe?! Sure, CA would have to spend some $ prosecuting the case (of course they might already have a lawyer or two on the payroll so that might help) but gee, doncha think a few depositions and a little financial investigation might have been in order?

As for Gray Davis, perhaps he could have handled the crisis better. But look at the big picture Spidey: Pete Wilson deregulates, Clinton helps keep the situation under control with price caps, Kenny boy Lay's buddy takes office and lifts the caps, all hell breaks loose, Davis and Bustamente sue Lay, Davis loses his job to the asshole who secretly met w/ Lay, then the asshole settles the case.

But hey, if you're more comfortable in your spidey hole...

2) Both actual and proposed state spending are higher under Schwarzenegger than Davis.
3) Schwarzenegger has collected more campaign contributions from special interests groups than did Davis.
4) Local governments are giving more of their tax revenues to Sacramento under Schwarzenegger than under Davis.

But Arnold had meetings with Enron executives (before his run for governor) while Enron was screwing California. If Davis had meetings with Edison and that means corruption why didn't Edison screw over California instead? It wasn't Edison that left California in debt, it was Enron. So what Arnold did was ok but what Davis did, which did not leave California in deep debt, was not? Now I understand.
