rumor- call up in Nov to include activation of ROTC - students beware.
the rumours coming out of ID ROTC leadership are spreading around the northern left coast. It seems that someone from the Other Washington (where we keep all the crooks) has 'politely inquired' of several states as to just 'how many fine young people are signed up in ROTC?' with the intention of 'activation as per ********* clause within the ROTC contracts.....

students beware. ROTC to be yanked out, suited up, trained up and shipped out....

bushies deny of course - just as they deny upcoming call-up for Nov.

1. It's going to be a tough awakening for Campus Young Republicans
Uh, they *are* all in ROTC, right????

If not, better start recruiting them.

NOW.

3. Yeah right
They're in ROTC. I don't think so. I bet they're all practicing they're deferment requests as we speak.

10. Not supposed to be deferments this go 'round.
Of course, we all know the rich will get out of it.

However, there are plenty of middleclass and poorer kids who join ROTC and are RW. This may be exactly what they need to wake them up.

4. This begs the obvious question, what will happen when
we don't have those officers? Or the recruits that don't sign on behind them?

5. Long term planning is not this
administration's strong suit.

6. How does ROTC work these days?
Is there a tuition benefit, are they required to serve in the military after school? What are the "rules"? I have no clue, which is why I'm asking.

7. This is how it is when I considered signing up
You get a large scholarship, full at most state and lower tuition schools. You have to take some classes in military science, almost like a minor, and go through training. You graduate a second lieutenant (for army). I have forgotten how many years you have to serve afterwards but it is several. If you don't serve, you have to pay the money back.
I would be suprised if they called the students up. My understanding was that they weren't "ready" until graduation.

8. There are also a lot of lower-income students
on ROTC scholarship because it is a great way to be able to afford college.
