Sometimes non political people explain politics better than us junkies!
I have a friend that recently watched F-9/11 and loved it. It's funny because when it originally came out in the theatres I had asked him if he wanted to go and he wasn't interested.

I gave him a call the other day just to see what was up and he asked me if I had seen the movie. After I told him I had, he asked why the hell I never told him how great it was. I told him I had tried but since he had shown no interest I didn't go further with it. He told me the reason he wasn't then was because he thought it was just a documentary on 9/11.

Well anyways a bunch of us were at the bar the other night and politics came up. Now, being the junky that I am I tried making a detailed conversation about it...but it seems like it was too complex and you might almost say wonky. I was probably losing people's attention at that point. My friend instead came in quickly and just gave it a rip...He was telling everyone there about the movie - and especially the Bush bait and switch tactic with Afgh and Iraq...The Bush relationship with the Saudis, etc. It was great.

Sometimes people that aren't obsessed with politics can explain the material better to others. I was impressed. Granted my friend never liked Bush but he doesn't follow the election as closely as I do.

2. I think what often happens
Is we bring up things others aren't aware of and speak of them without background which gives them no context. To us, they seem like common knowledge but they really aren't.

I'm tabling with a woman who is very passionate (so am I, for that matter) - very nice but she has a tendency to get talking and she jumps from subject to subject and brings up things that are kind of out of the mainstream without clearly explaining them.

I, on the other hand, try to stick to short, clear statements that keep the person's attention and don't get bogged down in detail. We forget that the average voter probably is not aware of a lot of the stuff we are. We need to educate but do it in a way that we don't lose the audience!

Good point.
