Should I lure my teachers out into a first amendment battle?
I've been having this idea for a few days now. Here is how it goes.

According to my math teacher, the transitive property of equality says that if A=B, and B=C, then A=C.

Now we have been studying the constitution in history lately. The first amendment says that the government cannot inhibit free speech. So let's say my school is A, the government is B, and the first amendment is C.

My school is a public school, and so it is government run. Hence A=B. The government cannot limit speech, thus B=C. Therefor, by the tranitive property of equality, the school (a government organization) cannot give me a detention for say the word 'fuck.'

What do you guys think?

1. I say that ...

the operative principle is more implication than equality and that the Supreme Court does not operate on mathematical logic.

Remember, these people are lawyers.

3. Simpler. Your public school *IS* part of the government.
The exercise of YOUR rights will always be limited to that which does not infringe on the rights of others.

Remember: Tolerance for ambiguity is a liberal trait.
