1. Could we be so lucky?
This administration is so good at fabricating things out of thin air that it would be a surprise if they failed now....

7. Angry at Maureen Dowd
October Surprise,

I just read an article that some of Kerry's base is voting for Kerry but the Issue that I'm concerned about is that Maureen Dowd is saying that Many Dem's (Off The Record) conceding Kerry Defeat is OK and Looking for Hillary Clinton in 2008. And with Bill Clinton on the Stump next week for Kerry will "He say anything to sabotage Kerry" to cost Kerry the Election. I am pissed off about this

9. Oh, I'm pretty sure they'll try something
They are committed campaigners, after all. It may not be on the scale some have been worrying about, though - a 9/11 redux kind of thing. For sure you will see a lot of turmoil around the election itself, both the balloting and the aftermath, no matter who "wins". This election is going to buy new yachts for a lot of lawyers.

After all, the Vice President of the United States said that "there will be" a terrorist attack on this country before the election.

They have to be very careful of the timing. to soon and the Media will start asking why weren't we protected and the Administration failed to protect us. Just a couple of days before the election will see a massive rallying around the pResident. This will be their surprise I have no doubt and not much we can do about it other than predict it in advance and holler like hell that it is something they would do. No American would like to think they are capable of doing such a thing but I'm sure we all know better. They have been priming us for the event for some time now. I expect a dirty bomb in San Francisco or some other Liberal haven. We need to get out in front of this and pre-empt the effect of such a horror. We need to get it out that if there is an attack it is because Bush* has made us less safe and unless we change Presidents we will see more of the same. Kerry will keep us safe and we won't have any such attacks. This meme needs to make the Media as soon as possible.

13. Keep an eye open next week
It may be too soon for kkkarl to spring his surprise, I'm not convinced it'll be effective though, everyone is expecticg something and everything this gang of misfits touches turns to shit.

The October surprise gambit may be getting old.

14. I'm still waiting for osama to be hauled out in chains
Has anyone else noticed the lack of Osama's taped announcements since this spring?

I think they're keeping him on the QT so they can unveil him like King Kong right before the election.

Anyone wanna take odds on this?

15. Maybe it's this...the voting machines
http://xymphora.blogspot.com/2004/10/no-surprises-in-october.html

It appears that the October Surprise will be that there won't be an October Surprise. If you're going to win anyway because you've already fixed the voting machines, why risk it?

17. I was expecting an airstrike on Iran's nuclear sites before now.
It's so late now that a move like that would be too obviously political. Or maybe not. These guys have been incredibly ham-handed in the past.

19. The probability peaks next Tuesday (7 days to go), I believe.
If they pull something, it'd happen far enough ahead of 11/2 to "take hold" but not so long that it has a 'discovery' backlash. Timing is everything.

30. To be effective - they have to pull it off by Saturday 30, October
Anything later than that will not allow our Fair and Balanced Press to spin it effectively for the Chimp.

The clock is ticking....

... like 48 hours before the election, so that our side has little time to respond. We still need to be very wary and careful.

32. I'd think if it were a BIG surprise it would have happened by now.
A week's cutting that kind of thing to short.

Look what happened with Bush's drunk driving arrest when it was announced just a few days before the election. For the most part it backfired.

33. People seem to forget...
A simple stunt like "Osama in a box" would be absolutely predictable; it's very possible that such an event would register in the public conscousness as a purely political stunt. Something like that would have the effect of swaying no one. The world would post a collective "eyes rolling" emoticon for America.

However, if you believe that this administration has spent so much of its time preparing for this "endgame" (via 9/11 and the Patriot Act), that they'll do anything to maintain power, you must concede that they're playing for keeps. We all know about what happens when another national emergency is announced.

I expect them to do nothing less than suspend the election. Voter fraud is simply a safeguard for them.

My only hope is that so many people have awakened to the dangerous actions of Bush's administration, and such a widespread public awareness has the effect of halting any greater plans to drown democracy this year.

34. Apparently Junior is coming home to Crawford this weekend
It's an odd time to schedule yet another short vacation. I have to wonder if they aren't planning something for him in that period of time. I've read others speculating that he may go on another trip to Iraq (possibly Afghanistan) for a photo op. I hope he does. That'll go over as well as Condi's stumping for b/c instead of paying attention to national security. I would LOVE to see another flightsuit picture of Junior making the rounds. We could all use the reminder of his 'Mission Accomplished' debacle. ;)
