Let it finish.
This is what my mom told me today. Bush is not only dividing the country, but dividing his party as well. Had Bush lost, Republicans would have been united against Kerry. Kerry would have been blamed for Iraq and the horrible economy. He would have been a moving target and in 2008 there is no way in hell he would have been reelected.

Let it finish. Bush is destroying the Republican party and we will emerge from this stronger than ever. We will add more to our ranks over four years. It is likely that Bush will put SCOTUS judges in place that will repeal Roe V. Wade. This will only serve to divide the Republican party futher. I know of Republicans who refused to listen to evidence showing how far to the neocon side Bush is. When they see the hard evidence, they will have no choice.

Let it finish. We will regroup in the meantime and we will accept all who turn from Bush in the meantime. We will be ready and waiting for 2006 and more importantly, for 2008.

Steph.

1. Excellent point. We can either throw up our hands or do what the
bastards would do - exploit weakness and division to our advantage. It's still this side of ethical and precisely what they deserve.

Revenge.

17. A good attitude.
I agree.

We worked hard. (Not like Bush works hard.) We can relax a bit. The ball is in their court. Give them a moment to self destruct.

4. Your Mom, my Dad...
Those of us fortunate enough to have thoughtful, intelligent parents seem to be learning a lot from them today, and sharing it here. Thank you for sharing this wisdom from your mom.

6. Yes. This extreme right wing push
will alienate the Republican moderates (they ARE out there).

Most Americans who voted for * (and all who voted for Kerry) want a change of focus in his second term. They're drinking the kool-aid now, but when they see this is the same old song and dance, they might get angry.

7. Mom is right! Bush's days of blaming Clinton are over!
Of course, Bush will still try to blame Clinton for everything that goes wrong, but perhaps Americans will stop believing him now.

15. We will be attacked again. This time, what can Bush say?
He claims he can keep us safe. They based their campaign on the idea that John Kerry would make us more vulnerable to attacks. Many people think Bush can keep us safe. So when the next attack comes, then what? You can only play the "at least it wasn't worse" card once. These people are so incompetant they can't catch Osama Bin Laden, not even for the "October surprise".

8. That's great only if
there is a 2008 election.

With BushCo in charge of everything, we no longer have a democracy. There are no rules anymore. They are going to do whatever they please.

Forget about politics. Forget about the Democratic Party. Neither will be very important in the near future. The battle is now cultural. Realists vs fundies. That is the next stage of this game, now that democracy is dead.

9. That's so easy for your mom to say.
Is she worried about staying alive for the next 4 years?

Will she (will you?) be fighting with all her might to prevent the cutoffs affecting all the poor, disabled, sick people who are now wondering how they will die?

Do these thoughts of others *EVER* occur to comfortable middleclass people?

Kanary

12. Please don't make assumptions, you no nothing about me or my mom
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 05:36 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
My mom lived in the poorest part of Chicago growing up. The building that she grew up in she had to vacate because it was CONDEMNED. She worked her way up to middle class. Me? Im going to school, my husband works full time. We have no insurance between us and nobody will cover me because of a preexisting condition. Our earnings fall below the poverty line. If my mom didn't help us we would be out on the street. So yes, we will be worrying how to stay alive during the next four years.

On Edit: My medications alone come to 600 dollars per month. That should give you some idea of just how easy a life we have. Hope does not belong to the rich alone.

14. thank god the little people have your vengeance on their behalf
You have to be pretty comfortable and bourgeouis to obsess about other people's problems, on the internet. Folks with real problems are too busy for narcissistic self-pity.

23. Not so fast, Kanary
We're all concerned about surviving the next 4 years, not just comfortable middle class people. Mom's got a point: we can rave all we want, but under a single-party rule with an insane agenda there's not much we can do until it implodes.
Still, I agree with you inasmuch as we are duty-bound to express ourselves loudly so that we can go on record as being the good guys when we start trying to rebuild post-neocon America -- once again.
Maybe the other side of the aisle will start taking notice when their social security's gone, their kids as ours can't play in a stream, the jobs are gone, the draft is up, when the last shred of dignity has been taken from us in a corporate and security-obsessed culture. Then the true and honest conservatives just might realize they've been had big time. The neocons have betrayed everything that they and I, as their worthy opponent, stand for. And I will be there to greet them with open arms.

11. I smell impeachment in the near future... I insist that I smell it... no,
I demand that I smell it... or some other such thing that puts this manchild out of office. I see big things coming out of this FBI investigation of Hallibacon.. and hopefully, the vice will take down the prez with him. Like they give a crap about this country... not hardly.

16. We won't get it until 2006, if at all...not with a Republican congress
Republicans don't waste their time on false wars or embezzling. They spend their time on important issues, like if Clinton is getting oral sex somewhere.

20. Au contraire!
A successful impeachment will happen when the Republicans, or a decent number of them join in.

Yes Clinton got impeached by a Republican majority, but conviction was impossible because the Democrats did not go along.

On the other hand, Nixon had to resign because his own party told him they would abandon him.

How many wars will Bush be allowed to start before they say let's kick some A**!

And will the rest of the world look at us and group us with the fundies who actually voted him in?
