They FORGOT Poland AGAIN!!!
I see lots of our guys and some of the Iraqis, but what happened to our numero-uno ally???

"An estimated 10,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines, along with about 2,000 troops from Iraq's new army, have been running into small pockets of fighters as they fight their way through ." - CNN

1. Where is that Poland!

And help me understand.
I am really confused.
I thought when we got there, thousands of insergents would be waiting for us to slaughter them.

What happened?

How many thousands were there?

Was it a knock knock - no bodies home?

8. The map says there was a cordon 5 miles out. With all the 12,000 troops
going into the city, who was manning the cordon? It would take thousands to man a line that long, unless they just put a couple hundred at roadblocks and left the rest open. The 'thousands' could have just strolled out across the countryside. Or maybe they weren't really there to begin with.

11. block the roads, forget about the open spaces
i guess that was the plan - because clearly the insurgents would only use the highway to leave the area....

9. they left for other places....
the push was known to be coming for a long time, so naturally they re-located elsewhere in the country. is it any surprise that attacks in bagdad and other cities are increasing right now....

2. Great Map
That's a great map you posted. We all have our thoughts about why we're there and what we're doing there. But I do pray for these men and women and the people of Iraq. What a nightmare it must be.

5. Actually on NPR...
They said it was 10,000 US troops and 130 Iraqii National Guard -- they said the rest of the Iraqii's who were supposed to "help" had defected over the weekend before the "invasion" began. Coalition my ass!

13. I bet they paid them BIG time to kill their own people

They don't have that much money in the world.

Am I going crazy or is this another case of a Bush Mission Unaccomplished?

12. Oh great . . . they come in from the north allowing them to
escape to the South where they can join with the others doing things like kidnapping Allawi's relatives.
