Olbermann rerun! Blistering!
"Buck passing." "Finger pointing." Andrea Mitchell saying Tenet "fell on his sword" and pointing out that the CIA told Bush the Niger document was bogus in October.

Then, Bushco's anti-veteran bullshit. Whew!

1. Yep, Keith's making me very happy these days
He also read part of an editorial from Army Times that ripped Bush for nickel and diming the armed forces on services and benefits, but raising the death compensation for spouses. Last line was "Money talks, and we all know what walks"

I've always had a bit of a crush on Mr. Olbermann, going back to his ESPN days, and I've definitely been one of his biggest defenders (apologists?) here at DU. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a smart-ass in glasses and graying temples...

"Blistering." Excellent word, FlashHarry! I'm so sorry I missed "Countdown" tonight... I kept thinking I should Tivo it, knowing Keith would have some snarky remarks about the Tenet statement, but I f'd up.

I hope there's a rerun.... if not, FlashHarry, I hope you'll give us a few more juicy details!

:-) Jennifer

8. Look out. He may just self-destruct!
The reason he blew off his news assignment last time (or was asked to resign) is because he had become so cynical about Starr's antics, he couldn't handle it any more. As I recall, one show--right near the end--he said something like "I'm just not going to read this stuff anymore."

I was astounded when he came back on the air and behaved like a good little Republican. I assumed it couldn't last. Good to see he's back in form. Imo, he has the potential to become the first of a new breed of tell-it-like-it-is anchors on TV; a worthy counterpoint to the opposite at FAUX.

I just hope he only gets close to the edge, and doesn't take a running leap over it.

If anyone will take it and run with it, it's Keith

And yes, I think he's hot, too. He's got that Jon Stewart in your face, graying-at-the-temples thingy .... sexy

9. I Just Watched It By Chance
I usually don't watch MSNBC, but as I was flipping through channels I heard the opening and left it on. Wasn't until the station break did I realize I what channel I was watching. Absolutely loved the "pass the buck" intro!

13. The really surprising thing was at the end of Andrea's report.
She did indeed say Tenet felll on his sword. THEN, she added that - on the same day (yesterday) the CIA released documents proving they had repeatedly warned the White House against using this "evidence" or taking it too seriously.

That was REALLY starting coming from a media whore like Andrea Mitchell.

THEN, the piece de resistance - Olbermann read several excerpts (that were also featured, word-for-word in graphics) from that devastating "Army Times" editorial called "Nothing But Lip Service."

Dear God! You shoulda seen me - I was jumping up and down and cheering and waving my fists in the air! I couldn't believe it!

I seriously doubt that this is just gonna go away like so much else has. It remains to be seen what the spinmeisters can do on the Sunday talk shows, but I suspect the media has just tasted blood - and finds it most intriguing.

FURTHERMORE - if Tenet does what he does (and, upon reading it, it doesn't look like a very strong or forceful mea culpa and leaves lots of loose ends hanging - provoking MORE questions) and the CIA comes in right behind him with other stuff that covers their butts, it does take a little of the luster off his supposedly "taking the blame." It's like a big, loud "OH, NO, YA DON'T!" I REALLY doubt this thing can just be excused away when it seems like they've got their own separate damage control machinery in full operation. Wonder what they'll release next time Condi or Wolfie or Colin or somebody says something?

I think somebody just turned the fan on and placed an open sack of manure nearby...
