The ethics surrounding the immorality of torture make it the principal issue for me, mainly because I like the idea of America being an example of justice rather than a perpetrator of the opposite. But even beyond that, if he was coming in to my business for a job, I wouldn't hire him. He's not that competent. Would you hire a guy who can't seem to remember anything he ever did? Who, KNOWING he was coming for a hearing on the torture memos, said he'd have to go back and reread the relevant documents (not that it probably wasn't some avoidance BS)? And couldn't be bothered to document such incredibly important items involving death row inmates? Ted Kennedy pointed out that it's not unreasonable for a president to want to have, as his advisor, someone he likes... but the bar for Attorney General is higher. Why is it that this critical job doesn't have people lined up trying to get it and getting interviewed so that we could get the cream of the crop... instead of some guy that seems clueless and irresponsible?
