KOEB Meeting

Anyone here?

And KO, we really do love you for your mind, your snarkiness and your sense of humor. It's not our fault you look like you do. Also, we're gonna talk about your clothes because you're on TV, and we're women and we have some ideas. :loveya:

I don't know how many we'll have. We may be very light tonight. I chose KO over Simon -- but I am taping AI. I admit it. :)

38. Patsy, it's finally happened...
I've found something on which we don't agree.

I'm not a reality show watcher and American Idol turns my stomach!

LOL!

However, if we were all exactly alike, the world would be a pretty boring place!

 You're still my bud, though!

And this thread needs more :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

:loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya:

And that leaves more Simon for me. Although, these days I don't know when I'll have the time to fit him into the schedule.

Wascally Wabbit? Oh, that man! :loveya:

Tina Wesson is my neighbor.

:wow:

And, yet, I've never seen ONE complete episode of "Survivor."

On edit: the part of the Survivor show I saw was where she won because I knew she had. Shhhhh....

205. She is. We always end up at the grocery store at the same time
and she always fawns over my son (who doesn't? LOL!)

She doesn't live right next door, she lives directly across the park from me.

The reason everyone knew she'd won is this: this is a nice, middle class neighborhood. Everyone here works hard for what they have. We're the typical "one or two paychecks away from disaster" people. We keep our houses and lawns nice and have good neighbors. But the thing is, Tina shows up with a brand new car and starts remodeling and... well... it went through the neighborhood like wildfire, of course.

She considered moving to a ritzy area of town, I heard, but didn't. There's nothing like our neighborhood. It really is nice.

AND, in a red state, in a red county, we're solid blue. :)

208. Good deal-glad to hear she's really a nice person in real life
and it speaks volumes that she chose not to move away from the neighborhood--just remodeling instead. And how could you resist your boy??? He's our official KOEB mascot (along with Sparky who was MIA tonight--did y'all notice)?

I love the Apprentice too. I love seeing the NYC street scenes. And yes, I'm surprised that The Donald hasn't gilded the future ex. Mrs. Trump yet. Give him time, I'm sure he will. Everything he does is so over the top. To me it's not classy at all--just tacky. But funny to watch!

My other guilty pleasure is American Idol. I love the tryout rounds-you get some real interesting characters on!

203. Me either
Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 09:34 PM by Patsy Stone
I have seen bits in a bar because my friend made them turn it on, but there was no sound. I don't actually do "reality" shows. AI is more for the bad singing (I love it) and the fact that I need to know what happens because everyone at work watches it. The Apprentice is indeed all about the back-stabbing, but I'd rather watch people try to "survive" in Manhattan than a tiny island in Nowheresville. Plus, on The Apprentice, you get those oh-so glorious shots of that tacky-ass deluxe apartment in the sky where The Donald lives. I know that was decorated by Ivana (can't find another thing to gild!), and he probably won't let anyone touch it. It doesn't seem very Marla to me, and this new one doesn't seem like she cares about anything at all.

I have friends who live in Trump Tower, but I haven't heard any good stories yet. When I do, though, you guys (and KEEF! :loveya:) will be the first to know.

Cool Tina story! :hi:

ed: 'cuz I can't spell.

for the bad singing.

She says it gets more and more boring as the year wears on and they weed out those people.

225. And she's right. By the time it gets to the end
I don't care. But the first 8 weeks or so are classic. They've also apparently wised up to it, because they started dragging out the audition process. :)

how they might possibly be considering maybe thinking about impugning her "integrity." And Boxer just answered that she was quoting Rice's own words. That was just great! I hope some of the craven congressional members who will vote for Rice to appease B* will be made to think and maybe in time ... Well, I can dream.

She has no integrity whatsoever and shares responsibility for thousands of deaths and who knows how many maimed bodies and lives. She doesn't care about that, but she has to pretend she's the grand Stateswoman-Professor!

There were so many more really good points made by Boxer. I was just watching the rerun on C-Span. Holy Crap! Boxer went off on her about torture. Condelusional was contradicting herself over and over.
Boxer really gave her the smack down!
The other Senators made some good comments, but this was definitely a public cat fight!

Played the rest of what Sen Boxer said instead of the part he played. She really went off of Condiluted. She pointed out what Condi said at what time and dates about the war rationale.
It was awesome Boxer rules!

200. That picture was on MSNBC for awhile,
suprisingly enough. Marisa Buchanan filmed Clark and my son for several minutes.

And, no, I don't mind you saving it. You're not the first. I'm used to it! LOL!

My boy became the official Clark mascot. Even the Clark reps from Nashville - when they came over to organize us in Knoxville - were told that "the Mom of the cute kid in the picture with Clark, saluting, is here" and they all fawned over me for several minutes and wondered where the hell the little star was (he was visiting Gran'ma that evening). They even said they were lobbying Nashville to let my son vote! :D

262. I'm hoping my son will be the first
Irish-Arabic-Native-American president!

And a Catholic with Muslim heritage, to boot!

Man - imagine what we'd be able to get done!

He's already told the fundies at the door that we don't need to learn about Jesus at 9 p.m. And, I quoteth, "Jesus was born on Christmas, he died on Good Friday and came back on Easter. He was the nicest man EVER and loved little children and wouldn't be bothering them at home when it's their bedtime."

Bahahahahah!

He also is way more of a Dem than I am. I'm only a Dem by default (I'm an Indie who thinks Shrub is a facsist, evil man). My son, however, spied Bill Clinton on the TV, asked who he was and I told him, "He was the president when you were born (1999)." He watched a few minutes more and then said, "Man, I'm glad I didn't miss him!"

:)

298. What a delight!
--Both your son and your stories about him! I'm saving them and looking forward to hearing more. I would have loved to have seen the looks on the faces of the fundies when he finished his very reasonable explanation of why he didn't want to listen to their harangue. Priceless!!! Bet their indoctrination didn't prepare them for that one!

Let's see - Irish-Arabic-Native-American. I've got the Irish and the Native American as ingredients in my own bloodline but the Arabic part is deliciously exotic compared to my more prosaic background. No wonder he is so gorgeous and gifted.

Thank you for all of this! What a lovely way to finish up before signing off for the night.

Basically my hairdresser gives me an all-over dye job that replicates my "real" Auburn locks, then uses lowlights, mediumlights, and highlights on top of that. Takes three damn hours at a time and costs me way more than it ought to--all to replicate my "natural" look.

He's a short, dark, Jewish comedian that I just know looks FINE in a yarmulke. This description doesn't resemble anyone I've ever or dated (or the one I married), but between him and Paul Simon, next time it's one of them!

When you see something on your local news, you always fins yourself saying "I saw that first on Countdown!?" I had one of those deja vu things with the nail in the guys head story (forgot his name oops) from last night...they've been talking about it all over the place on my locals today.

131. I dunno
Has he said "Tennessee" yet tonight?

Or made some reference to my state?

There was a two-week period there where he said the name of my state, or made reference to someone from it every night. I was sure he was doing his version of the Carol Burnett pull-your-ear thing.

But, then again, it could just be me. LOL!

He was talking about how pesky and troublesome bunnies are, and he called them "rodents".

The bunnies at the Denver airport are sabotaging people's cars, chewing through kinda important parts. So people get back from the airport, get to their car, and it doesn't work anymore. Some repair shops had a few repairs a day from it!

He had an expert on who said it is a new breed of superintelligent bunnies on a mission to reduce gasoline pollution.

then the husband went upstairs.

Then he came back, mad because there was a huge blob of wall plaster (he's been finishing the basement) hanging from his eye glasses all through dinner and I didn't notice.

I got the "you don't even LOOK at me anymore" speech.

I tried to explain I was watching the Condi clips, and trying to fix the peppermill which tragically passed on this evening.

Long silence, followed by "you don't love me anymore" - repeated over and over.

202. Ive been trying to get an addres for Mary Mapes, she is a heroine
She put the Iraq Prison Abuse Scandal on TV even though she knew the administration didnt want her to, and so Karl Rove and the White House got even with her by destroying her career---something they could only do if CBS/Viacom was working with them.

Mary Mapes should come to the Inaguaration!

289. I wrote a nice little rant to Mr. Moonves a few days ago.
Here it is:

Congratulations, Mr. Moonves. You have succeeded in destroying one of the last bastions of ethical journalism.

It is astonishing enough that your “independent” review was done by the former Attorney General of the “Bush 41” administration. How on earth does Mr. Thornburg, in your eyes, avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest? Don't you think he MIGHT have an agenda of his own?

But Mr. Moonves, what is even more disturbing is your zeal to fire your own staff of reporters and producers, simply because it was politically uncomfortable for you.

After Dan Rather reported the National Guard story on the evening news, I had made a conscious decision to watch CBS news, and wrote Mr. Rather a letter of support. I let him know that I was proud of his journalistic integrity, and the willingness to report what the rest of the media avoided, simply because it would offend the White House.

But I can no longer support your network. It's bad enough that we have entertainment masquerading as news over at FOX and CNN. But your deliberate decision to swallow the Corporate Media Kool-Aid is appalling. Your firing of your producers was a treasonous and cowardly act, designed simply to show your “friends” in the Capitol that you are willing to sit up and beg for media access.

I don't blame Dan Rather for "retiring." I'm sure he's relieved he doesn't have to swallow hard before he goes on the air.

Mary Mapes may have been one of the best things going at your network. Alas, you gave in to copycat journalism - you are now no better that the rest of the Corporate Media.

It would be interesting to hear what Walter Cronkite thinks of this debacle. I'm fairly certain that Edward R. Murrow is spinning furiously in his grave.

So congratulations again, Mr. Moonves. Good luck in your descent to obscurity.

I even went into detail about how there is a potential target audience of 59 million people who aren't being talked to by the major media. And this target audience isn't into celebrity stories. I don't know if it made any difference. I hope so.

Then junior got elected, and I had a wtf moment. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be nice if I only made a fraction of my salary didn't work for an illegal war? So now I teach photography and graphics at a school for fine and performing arts. (Had a degree in that before the army.)

when it's the SOFTWARE that is poorly designed. The problem is, see, with software vs. hardware, that the perceived cost of a new feature is negligible (takes a few days or so to code, you usually don't have to actually buy anything) so they wind up putting forty zillion features into the product without any regard as to what actually gets used and how often it gets used so you can't find anything because there are a million small buttons all the same size or 9000 menu options.

I convinced them of the election fraud by pointing out that the GEMS vote tabulator uses, get this, a MS ACCESS overlay on their base tabulations!!!

OK... how easy is THAT to punt? Seriously! I work in Access all day and could (if I wanted to) manipulate EVERYTHING without detection.

But, I digress. I'm using Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. I still have Windows for Office, but I don't use that when I'm online (got a free Front Page out of a deal, which is like, what $500 bucks? So I'm not complaining).

One guy who in the software dept. (geek land - I'm the only female
they allow back - LMAO) who voted for Bush even said I had a point. Yeah, they aren't any too happy with the blackbox stuff. I left them postulating how it could be hacked or code written. I think they talked about that for two weeks. :)

Thunderbird is Mozilla's e-mail client. I use it instead of Outlook. The only thing I've found that isn't compatabile is an Outlook transfer of old e-mails you want to save. I just saved them somewhere else. No biggie.

Oh - and I haven't found it, yet (but it doesn't mean it's not there - I think it is, but my software is only a month old) is that it's more difficult to create your own stationary. I'm pretty sure I could just do it on Front Page and export it over, but it's not as simple as it is on Outlook.

Outlook, as you probably know, is the hackers second main portal to your system. Try it if you don't want to download all the Linux stuff (unless you already have it). Mozilla takes but minutes.

258. I also write software, and share Crispini's low opinion of Microsoft
So when are we going to make a final call on the tie? And did we decide on a message?

Is it just me or has Keith been bursting with at the seams with snarkiness this week? Some of last week's shows seemed kind of slapped together but both last night and tonight the shows have been tightly written and chock-full of zingers. I guess he lost his energy there for a while after being sick.

263. Hey, what kind of software?
And I think we're just going to have to put our collective foot down about the tie, or we'll run out of time. If we agree to go with the poll results I think the choice is obvious, at least it was last I checked, but I know there are still some different opinions.

Maybe we pick a date, say, "OK, we decide tomorrow about the tie" or something, and then just hash it out?

You win, your fu is even mightier than everyone's in my workgroup!

I'm not attending the thread tomorrow. Again. That pesky life thingy, always getting in the way of my TV viewing fun. Think you can encourage the cat-herding?

I mean, if we're going with the poll results, it's "Gold Neat," hands down, but I know there were some dissenting opinions, and I am inclined to think that those of us who actually intend to contribute to the fund should be the ones whose opinions matter most, rather than, oh, everyone who was sitting around bored in the lounge.

274. Well, I won't be online during the show
hubby's out of town and my little angel won't give up the ghost while Keef is still on the air, that's for sure. I'll be online during the day (kinda obvious why I spend so much time at a computer now, eh?) and will herd as best I may. If some of the usual suspects are around during the day we may be able to get something done before tomorrow night (bwahahahahaha).

You've out-geeked me.

I couldn't marry anything that didn't have a ring and wasn't in pants in front of a preacher/judge somewhere.

Compilers? Weesch... Man... to have your mind. I'm too literal in the English field (I pick up the language of computers, but not the abacus, if that makes sense), but I cannot get math. I just don't.

Tell us how the wedding goes, though. I'm interested. :)

You think it would be too much to ask, to have those countdown emails not tell us "Keith blogs" and link us to entries that we already read a week ago ... and instead they could just send out a seperate "Keith blogs" email when it actually happens?

watch the rerun (sob!)Also can't watch tommorrow night or vote on ties during the day. This real life stuff is getting in the way of my KO habit.

Promise me ladies, you will not let the ORANGE tie be chosen. I can live with the gold one, dull 'welcome to the Marriot' that it is, but never the orange one (or the first striped one either).

on edit....I'm still holding out for the snarky little men tie, the blue parrot, or my blueish snarky stripe choice.

283. the man needs no instruction from me
in how to be a smartass. I suspect tie w/gray suit entered his fiendish brain about 12 nanoseconds after he learned we were tie-shopping and really really hated the gray suit. I'm hoping that "Gold Neat" will look so incredibly horrible with the gray suit that even he would be too embarrassed to wear it on the air... but he still might do it just once, for a snark. He has got, after all, too much backbone.

I can "live" with the gold one (:puke:) I think, but I think he likes orange.

It's just that the gold one is so, well, plain. It's like the tie I bought my first serious boyfriend in high school. Safe and easy.

Sorry. I know my orange tie is gonna lose and I'm deflated. :(

276. I'm going to be campaigning hard for "Welcome to the Marriott"
I'm not in love with it, but it'll get the job done. And hey, I'm not in love with Keith, either, but he gets the job done, so that sounds like a pretty good fit. ;)

Seriously, it's not a "unique" tie, but no one has agressed upon it with the ugly stick, which is more than I can say for a lot of the ties I've looked at the past few days. I really liked the striped one you came up with bunny, but I was afraid it might look horrible on TV.

A decision *will* be made before I go to bed tomorrow night even if I order the friggin' thing myself. Enough is enough. I spent less time than this picking out my wedding dress. Literally.

286. Honey, I don't hear cherubs playing harps when I look at it, either
It is a "safe" and "boring" choice. I'll be the first to admit it.

We're trying to buy a tie for a man we don't know from Adam and he has to wear it to work and it has to look okay on television. Those are some pretty serious constraints. And that's where "safe" and "boring" come in.

If the orange tie weren't such a bright shade of orange or if Keith had different coloring, you might have gotten my vote. But bright orange.... eek! Not my cup of tea.

290. Actually, his coloring is for this one
He's got some olive in his skin (as do I). He's got hazelish/greenish/grayish eyes (as do I). He's dark haired. I'm not. He's a fall, bordering on winter. I look good in orange. He would, too, believe me.

If he wore it with Navy or black, it would ROCK.

Mute the tie to get the orange and slate out of it for the skin and hair and eye color.

(Geez, where in the hell did THIS come from? I don't even spend this much damn time on MY clothes and coloring. LMAO!)

But, I'll chip in a couple a bucks for the non-angels singing tie. It's the thought that counts. ;)

292. I think he's probably a winter and the "fall" aspect
is mostly makeup. Check the difference in color between his face and hands in some photos, most noticeably the one of him in the brown suit in the thread from the other night. Someone said the shot was from 2003. Face is heavily made up (Light Egyptian); hands look pink. Also take a gander at his "just getting his snark on" pic. I think that may be a candid shot and he's not wearing makeup and his skin seems fair. I'm thinking slate blue eyes, fair skin and they make him up pretty heavily for the show.

297. I agree.
The orange tie will look FABULOUS on Keith!

Don't be afraid - it just looks garish sitting all by itself. But put a nice dark suit around it, and you've got one fine looking man.

Oh, hell, he'd look fine wearing nothing but his glasses and a smile!

I'd be glad to chip in for the cost. Whoever's collecting, let me know.
