such gratitude towards two Senators who voted against her? We are really desperate for anything, anything, any kind of leadership, any kind of stand against fascism.

Is there anyone here who truly believes the Democrats in Congress are not, for the most part, completely complicit in what is going on in this country? That any of them would actually stand up against it?

Our "party" is an illusion.

the ruling elite planning "1984". It just came a few years too late. He did write the book though, as a warning. Few have recognized.

But take heart. Progressive membership in such organizations such as Democracy for America and Progressive Democrats of America is growing and growing. These also include Independents and Greens. Progressives are uniting like never before. Meanwhile, Rethuglican enthusiasm for participation seems to be decreasing. Maybe we'll get a net advantage soon.

And yes, I'm a retired social worker (social worker at heart), so I'm ALWAYS grateful for whatever I can get (my politician to do ... whatever program money for a client I can get ... etc.).

I'm proud of Senator Kerry and Senator Boxer, and I e-mailed them my gratitude.

3. I think the biggest problem with the Democratic party (and liberals)

Is that they were taught to play nice. They believe in the "Golden Rule", they believe in compromise to find the best solution, they try to extend respect in hopes that it will be returned to them.

Republicans, and conservatives, on the other hand, have no interest in playing nice. They do not compromise, they don't think they have to.

Liberals give, conservatives take.

It's so sad that this is what we have come to.

They are mad with power, and greed and will do anything, say anything, and vote for anything, that keeps the cash rolling in.

Our leaders are greedy whores who could give a rats ass about us.

If they actually worked against the fascism, there would be millions who would stand up behind them. They could keep the cash rolling in that way, too.

They are just too afraid - of what? Anthrax? Getting Wellstoned?
