Whatever happened to Vladimir Zhirinovsky?

Remember him? The Russian who threatened to take Alaska back from the United States, nuke Japan and flood Germany with radioactive waste?

The thread of a political debate ending in a brawl reminded me of him. (I once saw a clip of him punching a political opponent on Russian TV.) Does anybody know if this wacko has slithered back under his rock, or is he waiting for upcoming elections to re-energize his nationalistic campaign?

2. He's Still Around
He is the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia and is their leader in the State Duma. He has been slowed by health problems in recent years, including eye trouble caused by an accident when he was visiting here in the U.S.

Interesting: He was an Iraqi cheerleader during the war using his most bellicose rhetoric in years. He said something remarkably similar to the Alaska comment and about ridding the world of the United States not too long ago.
