Rumsfeld: critics are helping the enemy - shades of Ashcroft
Rumsfeld Strikes Back at Critics of U.S. Effort on Terror
By DOUGLAS JEHL

HANNON, Ireland, Sept. 8 — With costs and casualties rising in the war on terrorism, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld struck back today at the administration's widening circle of critics, saying they were complicating an already difficult task.

Mr. Rumsfeld did not mention any of the domestic critics by name. But he suggested that those who have been critical of the administration's handling of the war in Iraq and its aftermath might be encouraging American foes to believe that the United States might one day walk away from the effort, as it has in past conflicts. - http://nytimes.com/2003/09/08/international/middleeast/08CND-RUMS.html?hp

1. Strangefeld...
...can just STFU. I'm sick of being called a traitor for pointing out the obvious incompetence of this regime. F'them...they are the traitors, and they should be in jail, or "brought to justice"...

rummy was there... he saw what happened to his last attempt at popular gurrila warfare he KNOWS the LESSONS of vietnam well.

i just hope we can stop them AGAIN before it gets worse :'(

5. We're "complicating an already difficult task"?
Since when did this get "difficult"? All I've heard so far was about what a cakewalk this was and is, and how any perceived "setbacks" are nothing more than the military getting its hair mussed.

Is Rumsfeld admitting that things are not all beer and skittles for the military in Iraq? Doesn't he know how much that hurts the troops' morale to hear that the rear echelon people think they're not doing a perfectly stellar job?

He is the only BFEE member that I might actually excuse on grounds of insanity. And his body language is beyond insane.

11. Thats the beauty of the patriot acts
Not supporting Bush's agenda can qualify you as the enemy, which would make you guilty of treason.

Also, the real genius behind the Patriot Act is that it gives them all the power they could want over terrorists. More importantly, it allows them to designate anyone as a terrorist.

Any dissent whatsoever helps the terraists as far as they are concerned.

Time for everybody to loudly proclaim, "BULLSHIT, ATTACKING COUNTRIES THAT HAVE DONE NOTHING TO US HELPS THE TERRORISTS!"

15. You can tell these guys are feeling the HEAT when...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 11:56 AM by Q
...they roll out the reruns of Ashcroft accusing critics of helping the enemy by questioning their credibility.

- This is only the beginning. They should get used to the idea that their scam has been exposed and the whole world is on to them.

- Here's the into to the NYT's article:

Rumsfeld Strikes Back at Critics of U.S. Effort on Terror

In a first, the defense secretary today suggested that critics might unwittingly be aiding the terrorist cause.

24. they think
they're in charge of the executive, legislative and judicial branches, the media, the corporations, the voting machines.....

Oh, wait--they are, aren't they?

This is a very dangerous time for America. The Founding Fathers never envisioned such a situation arising, thinking the checks and balances they established would weather any storm. A chink in their genius, I guess.

Up to us to restore balance.

17. that's always been a disadvantage for democracies
but it's nothing new, and we've collectively decided that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Maybe Rummy and Bush don't agree, but they're in a very small minority. It's only a fluke that they're in charge.

18. Donald Rumsfeld?
The same Donald Rumsfeld who is Secretary of Defence for the United States of America? He sounds more like the Secretary of Defence of some fascist banana republic.

Dissent is a fundamental part of my country, Rumsfeld, you asshole, it is obviously not a part of the country you and Aschcroft and you incompetent foll of "President" are trying to create, but it is not part of the USA.

As sign that someone is not worthy of respect is assertion that we MUST respect them or there is something wrong wioth those doing the dis-respecting.

22. What a jerk
I can't believe at one point I thought he's one of the least offensive in the administration. He is really mean-spirited.

Iraq wasn't one of the top terrorist countries before, but because of the war, it's turning into one. Terrorists are funneling into the country. I will never support what we did. This war only made more war, not peace.
