Thread for Dean Supporters Who Don't Hate Kerry
That would include me, even though Kerry has disappointed me a number of times. Kerry was my first choice, before the Iraq War Resolution vote. My problems with Kerry are with actions he has taken as a public official, not with his stock portfolio or his wife or any of his private alleged flaws. I will vote for Kerry if he is nominated.

The mans a true hero in my book and a great Dem... I just happen to think that Dean has a better chance of catching the fancy of Moron America.

I don't know if I would vote for him if he is nominated.

so why would you not vote for Kerry if nominated? Maybe I'm dense but that makes no sense to this feeble brain of mine.

Walt has already said, many times, that e will not vote for anyone who voted for the Resolution.

18. I can understand the principle of not wanting to vote for an IWR supporter
I felt betrayed by my Senators, Schumer and Clinton, when they voted for it. They're damaged goods, as far as I'm concerned. But then I see Hillary going after the Bushists on the EPA report on air quality in lower Manhattan, for example. This doesn't quite remove the stain, no bad puns intended, but it does mitigate a bit for me. I'm just a sucker for Democrats, what can I say?

27. That['s how I've been feeling
And even worse, I thought about this possibility:

Lieberman/Clark

The thought of that has me knowing without a doubt that in this situation, I'd have to vote for Liebermna even though my disgust for the man certainly transcends the IWR vote.

26. I've gone back and forth on that one
And continue to struggle with it, hence my undecided position here.

Now if Kerry was nominated and chose an anti-war candidate to be his running mate, I would hop off the fence.

34. Hate is a strong word
I'm not really sure I hate *.

I'm on the fence about whether or not I'll support Kerry. If he wins the nomination and is polling 10 points behind Bush just before the election, I'll probably vote for a third party candidate. Closer than that, and I'll probably vote for Kerry because there is still a chance.

Right now, Lieberman is the only one I definitely won't vote for with the exception of a scneario where he chooses Dean or Clark as his running mate.

I don't "hate" ANY of the other candidates, nor have I a single negative thing to say about any of them, although I will not vote for Lieberman should he be nominated.

He's not my first choice, but he's not my last either.

I personally don't see any point in anyone bashing any of these candidates. The more united we look, the better off for the one that eventually gets the nod.

20. Opposing a candidate does not mean "hating" a candidate
"Hate" is a very powerful word. Hamas "hates" Jews, Nazis "hate" Jews, Freepers "hate" everyone that is different from themselves, etc.

Please, don't ever refer to opposition to a candidate as "hate" unless the poster has made an explicit statement of hate (which according to DU rules, would get the poster banned anyway).

I will use the Alert button on any poster that smears another with the "hate" word.

start a thread for Kerry folks that would support Dean...let's see what kind of responses that one gets.

He is very much a typical insider who has spent so much time inside the system, that he's a professional fence sitter.

I'll vote for him over Bush, but I fear we'll get a lot more of the same big-military bullshit from Kerry.

I still am hoping for a Dean/Clark ticket.

30. Grudging support
Agreed, and I would add that if Kerry didn't realize that the open-ended war resolution that he voted for was a war resolution, then he's not doing his job.

That said, I'd give him my grudging support. His record on abortion is good enough for me. And anything is better than Bush.

I would have a much harder time supporting Kucinich or Lieberman. The first is a so-called Progressive whose record is anything but; the second is a DLC shill.

37. I'd likely vote for him too, but he's just not my first choice.
If you'd asked me in 2000, I might have picked Kerry over Gore.

However, I just don't think a guy whose family wealth is near 1/2 a billion dollars can ever really represent the party of the little guy. Yes, he can concern himself with the issues of poverty and powerlessness, but he comes off as phony when he tries to deal with them. It reminds me of GHWB's bewilderment over the scanner at the grocery store and absolute cluelessness over the price of a gallon of milk.

How can someone truly know about the problems of the common man when he has NOTHING in common with the common man?

I know that even my guy Dean is a millionaire, but he's a minor leaguer compared to most, and he's made his own money through his and his wife's careers as doctors. You read the stories about Dean and his cluttered garage and beat up car and you know this guy has dealth with real life problems that we all deal with. This wasn't a guy raised with a nanny and chauffer.

Kerry gets my respect for his war record. I think he's a good guy and I would vote for him if he gets the nod.

I don't hate any of the candidates, and will vote for any one of the Dems who gets the nomination. Even holy Joe, although I will hold my nose and try not to puke while I do it.

We as Democrats should be proud, Damn proud, to field such an amazing field of qualified candidates. Some more than others. Some more popular than others. Some less trustworthy than others.

But all, and I mean Every single one of them, is better than the corrosive plague currently stinking up the people's house.

and has been for quite some time. I am not enamored with several of his 'supporters' at DU since many of them seem to bash Dean far more than support him but Kerry will get my vote, a sign on my door, my time, and if economics permit some money if he wins the nomination.

I don't have any real problems with him, except that I don't really think he'd win, on account of the fact that he is rather boring to listen to. I just don't think he'd motivate the base the way Dean is doing.
