Is DU all Gannon, all the time?
I just did a search on the word "Gannon" in DU.

"Your search criteria returned too many topics. Only displaying first 116 pages.

116 topics match your criteria"

Uh, is anything else happening in the world?

Excuse me, I am a somewhat newbie.

10. "jump the shark"
is a term used by a lot of people. it refers to fonzie jumping over the sharks towards the end of happy days...

basically, it's when a show or some other long-running thing starts pulling stupid tricks to keep people's attention

This story RULES. I love that this place and all the liberal websites as a collective is fired up and raring to jump all over this story digging up details, rooting out connections, following ever lead. IT EXCITING and INTRIGUING and its invigorating.

We are finally shining a light on the cockroaches and DU is on the leading edge of that beam of light. So hell yeah, its not surprise that DU is all GanGuck all the time.

Hell, I've been in the White House press room. A very shabby place indeed. Those seats the journalists sit in look like worn-out theater seats from 40 years ago, yet they each have little brass plaques identifying the organization that gets the prime real estate.

Sex, lies, power, coverups... This has been standard operating procedure since the day GWB took office.

What makes this one so much fun is Karl Rove's involvement with a gay military man-ho. Now that's a story!

most people will not listen to ANYTHING you have to say if it's filled with obvious distortions or mistruths.

If half your story is true and half made up, nobody will ever believe the true half.

I don't see how this warrents any more coverage than say Vince Foster -- a couple of blurbs, an investigation, and that's it. However, the RW still talks about it -- like the left wing still is obsessed with this Gannon stuff.

Who cares if a political hack had potential ability to blackmail a mid-level whitehouse employee. There has yet to be any evidence of actual wrongdoing other than granting him press access.

A much bigger story (whic I have only seen mentioned once) is the release of documents by the ACLU showing ongoing torture in Iraq.

26. The Daschle angle is important I think
because it is a concrete example and answer to the "so what?/ what's the big deal?" crowd. As Olbermann said, when shills like this pretend to be a news source, so pundits on the net or talk radio can then recount to propaganda as "news" (recall Hannity sourced Gannon to push the Rather documents story) is becomes, as KO put it, akin to money laundering. When you add to that the the bloggers in the SD case were on Thune's payroll, you see how Orwellian it really is.

44. YEAH, THE COUNTRY'S GOING BANKRUPT
as a result of incompetent fiscal policies....
rates being too low for too long...
we won't be able to get anyone to invest in the 10s of Billions of dollars that it will take to keep Bush's sinking ship a float.

The inevitability is raising interest rates...
but then the interest on the debt will be 350B, 400, perhaps over 500B per year by the time that Bush is out.

He will have left us with an irreconcilable financial disaster....

45. Guckert vs. Negroponte vs. Prison Abuse
The Corporate Cable Media is following the Guckert/Gannon story, due entirely to bloggers. That's good. (Not a word of it in my local paper, though.)

I worry that Negroponte being nominated for Head Security Dude is not being paid enough attention here on DU.

And the ACLU FOIA requests that showed evidence of even more prisoner abuse needs more attention. If only for the fact (if you don't care about abuse of prisoners)that the ACLU broke the story, not any news organization.

... Please let me know. It would have saved me a lot of time if I knew how to do that. Apparently you have cracked the code. Please share your knowledge.

It's interesting that your "search" returned both 116 pages and 116 topics. One topic per page? That seems odd. Maybe you don't know how to search on DU without being a sponsor after all.

Hyperbole can be a very useful tool. Bullshit is seldom useful. Which is it?
