Bush* should pardon all jailed for pot possession.
Truly. If the president has committed the same crime (and you must possess to smoke) then he should allow everyone in prison on possession to go free and CLEAR THEIR RECORDS SO THEY CAN SOMEDAY BECOME PRESIDENT.

Fat Chance?

1. You forgot the rules
One rule for him, another rule for everyone else.

6. His pot use was before he was saved - now all is forgiven.
This works well for people in your own circles. Ms. Tucker, whom bush executed in TX, was saved by Jeebus during her stint on death row - bush executed and subsequently mocked her. She was white trash and it didn't matter if she found Jeebus.

Even if bush continues to smoke pot or snort coke - he found Jeebus and all of his sins are already forgiven.

It's a nice philosophy.

2. No no, he hadn't found "Jesus" yet
When a Republican does something it is a "youthful indiscretion".

When "Christ" changes you at age 40, the slate is supposed to be washed clean. I heard that this morning on Fox News.

10. He profits too much from the "drug war" to stop it.

The companies he invests in supply both sides with weapons, and being President doesn't pay nearly as much as his portfolio.

11. I can't help thinking
the release of these tapes is a red herring meant to distract us from some real story. They've been discussing this on CNN, but no real interest in the fact that some call-boy got a press pass to the white house. I'm trying to imagine this story during the Clinton Administration. Not that I'm cynical or suspicious or anything like that.

12. My guess is he was smoking pot in 1968
when a paraplegic friend of mine in Houston, who got high because it was about all he could do anymore to have fun, got sentenced to 10 years in prison for a joint. This really pisses me off.

13. If he smoked pot in Texas, he should be in jail FOR LIFE
Texas had/has some of the worst, most lengthy, sentences for mere possession back in the 70's.

A friend got caught with some pot inside a small Thermos in the El Paso airport in 1974 (I know, he was VERY stupid). If he had not had connections with some high-powered lawyers, he would still be in jail.

20. Texas was harsh
I look back on my life in amazement when I remember that that is where I first started getting high way, way back in 1967 ... not just pot either, but all the acid and peyote buttons and those various and sundry capsules we used to take to stay awake during finals. It's a wonder I didn't end up in jail for life. From there I went to Denver where "the police don't like no long-hairs hanging 'round." What was I thinking???? I guess I'm proof positive that harsh laws aren't a deterrent.
