I am told Dean ""hates Rs and everything they stand for."
All over the internet he is quoted, ""hates Republicans and everything they stand for." All the sources use the same fragment. Anyone have the full paragraph?

7. Once again, out of context...
...he was talking about the Republican leadership, and the accurate quote is as follows:

"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for, but I admire their discipline and their organization,"

The clip is actually available online. Of course, a Google search finds many hits demonstrating the typical and predictable outrage of Republican shitshills, but who f'n cares if they get their panties in a wad. This was a statement nested in a speech talking about DISCIPLINE and ORGANIZATION, so he obviously wasn't talking about rank and file Republicans. After all, were he talking about rank and file Republicans, it's my understanding he'd be including his mother.

More manufactured outrage from the perpetually offended and victimized right-wingers.

As much as I have criticized the current admin, I don't HATE ALL PUBS! Some of them deserve hate, but some are reasonable people that we disagree with, and they with us. I admit, there are some extreme LW that I disagree with too, but I don't hate them.

I think some are judging Dean as hating ALL PUBS because he blatently states that some of the policies are evil and wrong. That doesn't mean he hates all Pubs.

I have family members who are Republicans who would rather see this country self-destruct than criticize their God, Bush.

He said the moderates in the Republican party don't like the right wing extremists.

He said the other on C-Span, not viciously, just said it and said but he admired them for their organization.

I could bring up a lot of things others in the party have said that offend me greatly. I won't tonight. Especially where they say they will vote for this damned war all over again.

And I am mad that now they, including Dems, are going to "fix" the high schools the way they "fixed" the elementary. Today they said all high schools are failing and we have to make them accountable. That is a load of BS.

I think they should apologize.

12. Oh please.
We're sick of being nice while being punched in the mouth. Fuck them. Hell, we're not even talking about the rank and file, but perhaps we should. After all, Rushbots have been talking about "lining up and shooting liberals" for years now.

So yes, I fucking hate them and everything they stand for, and I'm DAMN GLAD Dean does to. We don't need some spineless twit who thinks he can compromise with crooks and evil men. When we compromise with Republicans on most any issue, it just ends up weakening our position. Why? Because their leadership has a goal: redistribution of wealth and power upwards to an ever more concentrated and tightly wound group of assholes. Seems our leaderships goal for the past 20 years has been: win, even if we have to sound like them to do it.

NO. They hate us, we SHOULD hate them. They are, through their ignorance and barbarism, DESTROYING this country and they are doing irrepairable damage to the future of my children. No way in hell should we be playing nice.

Don't confuse anger and hate (righteous indignation) with a desire to visit upon "them" death and destruction. Talk to the Coulter types about bombing the NYTimes. Talk to someone like Rush or Savage if you want to talk about THAT kind of hate.

You stick with passing out love beads to those that would GLADLY deport you. I'll continue to call them fucking idiots to their face. Neither of us are likely to change their minds, but considering the climate, the feigned outrage with which dissent is greeted, I feel pretty damn good about vocally "hating on" the GOP.

I'm with Dr Dean. I hate Republicans and all that they stand for. They are AGAINST the interests of the people - they have conducted a three decade long class war AGAINST the people and worked hard to grease the wheels so corporations could take over the peoples' government lock, stock and barrel. I HATE that!!!! It's economic fascism!

16. Our "hate" is worse than their "hate"?
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/1/30/104654.shtml

The front-runner in the race to head up the so-called party of compassion and understanding said unabashedly on Saturday that he "hates" the opposition.

"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean told Democrats gathered at a Manhattan hotel, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

(cut)

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/276020p-236422c.html

(cuts)

"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for, but I admire their discipline and their organization," the failed presidential hopeful told the crowd at the Roosevelt Hotel, where he and six other candidates spoke at the final DNC forum before the Feb. 12 vote for chairman.

But Dean said the Democrats should not change their beliefs to be "Republican lite."

"We can talk about our faith, but we cannot change our faith," he said, echoing themes he sounded in his presidential bid. "We need to be people of conviction."

BUT YET!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/2/16/233033/805

As RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman praised the election of his new counterpart Howard Dean, influential Republican front groups were already planning a mendacious offensive against the new DNC chair.

The first attack came courtesy of the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), a big money pro-Israel lobby group linking Jewish-American neoconservatives to the Christian Right and Israel's Likud government. On Monday the RJC began running full-page ads in major Jewish newspapers across the country featuring a large photo of militants strapped with explosives coddling a young Palestinian boy. Above that arresting image is a quote by Dean: "It's not our place to take sides." Below the photo are quotes by Democrats critical of Dean. The ad effectively equates Dean's election with the appeasement of suicide bombers.

(cut)

The National Jewish Democratic Council called the Republicans' anti-Dean ad a "vicious smear campaign." It said the ad campaign "dangerously politicizes support for Israel, threatening the crucial legacy of bipartisan support for Israel."

The Democratic council's executive director, Ira Forman, predicted the Republican ad would backfire. "It helps us when you go over the top and put a picture like that," he said.

...

The anti-Dean advertisement drew criticism from some Jewish community leaders considered sympathetic to the Bush administration's anti-terrorism policies. Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, called the ad inaccurate and "ill advised."

(cut)

Oh Yes. Repuke "hate" is soooooo much better than Democratic "hate" -- of EVIL.

I'm not one to advocate "hate". It is a miserable emotion.
Maybe "despise" would be a better term.

I despise what the neo-cons have done and are doing.
I don't hate their souls.
But goddam, they are stealing from the poor, destroying the middle class and eldery Americans, killing perfectly innocent human beings, raping the environment, and strutting around like they own the whole freakin planet.

46. Hate. like anger, is a natural human emotion.
It's a natural response to something harmful or dangerous.

"Hate is wrong." Talk about blanket statements. Hate just is. It's what we do with it that matters, and how we let it affect us,

This misty-eyed, campfire sing-along sermonizing about how we shouldn't hate those who seek to destroy us... what a crock. That's just nauseating.

Yeah, sure, let's keep making nice with the Pubbies, while they play smashmouth politics. no fucking thank you.

It's high time someone stopped making nice with the Pubbies, and I'm glad Dean's doing it.

You wanna hand out love beads to the guys who'd just as soon shoot you as say hello to you...you be my guest. From now on, my message to the Pubbies will be very clear: I HATE YOU!!!

From now on, no Republican is welcome across my threshold. If they voted for Bush, they won't set foot in my space. I will not share the air they breathe.

Now, since I'm likely to be in my mother's house at that point, well, then, if a Pubbie comes in...I go upstairs and close my door. and I tell the Pubbie WHY I'm doing it, too.

I'm gonna tell them I do not wish to share their airspace. Fuck 'em.

http://katherine-brengle.mydd.com/story/2005/1/30/221056/748

and apparently didn't think it worth mentioning.

In context of what his message appears to have been, he was referring to the vast right-wing conspiracy rather than Joe Republican. Do people seriously fear that we will get an email from the DNC telling us to go after Joe with a baseball bat?

We're not the right, and this "party of hate" nonsense is pure paranoid projection. In fact, any hate I see in Dems seems to arise when they listen to right wing folk, not to Democratic leaders.

The Republicans do need to look out for granny and her cane, though. j/k

Anyhow, IMO, this whole thing is silly.

because many of them are on the same side of the issues as we are, and some Democrats are not. Plenty of Republicans voted for Kerry; plenty of Democrats did not. I don't believe Dean was referring to individuals; he meant the machine* that is controlling the election results. It's actually pretty obvious that he meant that.

Edit:

*I meant political machine; that must have been a Freudian slip. :-)

41. Like that's a Bad Thing?
Since the ReTHUGlicans want to dismantle everything this country USED to stand for and sell it for profit, what's not to hate?

Don't forget, the GOP definition of "Bi-Partisanship" is "Bend over, I'm driving..."

49. I hate them, too. It's the Golden Rule
The only thing I've gotten from Republicans is hate. I haven't given hate to get it. But all I have to do is make the statement I'm a Democrat or I'm Liberal and the physical reaction is like a reflex! There's no denying the 'hate', and it has only intensified with all of the rhetoric year after year.

54. Here is Dean's interview on KS radio....listen to it and quit worrying.
He is doing great, and all our Democrats need to talk this way.
http://www.kcur.org/programListDetail.asp?ID=6

Some paraphrased quotes:

"We lose the debates because we are not in the debates."

"Republicans call us names and we don't respond."

He finds the debate on Social Security is appalling. It is not about Social Security, it is about giving Wall Street profits.

He says Bush has a ideological goal to destroy Social Security by turning it over to Wall Street, sending money we have borrowed to privatize to Wall Street for their profits.

He says we actually don't have to have a plan for Social Security right now, it is not that urgent. Make sure the Republicans don't wreck it.

Says it was good Bush went to Europe because it is not good for us to be "ruling by fear."

Again says Iraq was no danger, but terrorists there now. Refers to the dangers from Iran and North Korea.

55. On the contrary, Dean admires Republicans' discipline..
..and their organization.

the actual quote:
"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for, but I admire their discipline and their organization."
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/276020p-236422c.html

Oh darn! This is confusing! Dean both admires and hates them at the same time!

This can't be can it? I mean, we all know you're either with them or against them, if you're with them you blindly accept and love everything they do, and if you're against them you simply despise them and hate everything they do. The world is black-and-white like that - for some people.

70. That was when the media were peeking through the fence I hear.
That was a great clip. "The moderate Republicans hate the extremist Republicans"....and it sounded like Judy was about to gag on that one.

He used a microphone and his voice was amplified so people outside the fence of the private home could hear....they still made it sound secretive.

They say the fence had wide gaps, and people were just gawking. This is a pic from the DNC blog, you can see the fence.

66. As an outsider
and one who doesn't have a TV (go figure), all I know is what I read on the internet. And I read as much as I can. Left, right, middle. All. Having said that, it seems to me, (again as an outsider) that someone in the U.S. that supports the Republican party is supporting a bigoted, racist, sexist, homophopic party. They are hypocritical; they lie like a rug and they have no sense of shame. Sorta like our Conservative party.

However, our conservative party would be considered darn near socialist compared to your conservative party. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view) our CPC is now using SSM as a "wedge" issue in a minority government parliament. And, by doing so, are turning more and more of my fellow citizens towards the left as most Canadians have no tolerance for intolerance.

That is exactly the situation.

Don't know what CPC or SSM are....

Is no tolerance for intolerance the same as "intolerance".

Oh now I remember. There is a distinction.
