Let's Discuss Joe Biden
Edited on Mon Feb-28-05 03:18 PM by Stevendsmith
I saw this comment on Daily Kos yesterday, and it very nicely summed up my thoughts on Biden:

"Joe Biden's best service to the Democratic Party's base would be to sit down and shut up.

This guy Biden is another poster child for why we Democrats are now in permanent minority status. He's a useless corporate-military proponent, whose presence on these shows results in the dangerous illusion of "presenting both sides."

Hey, Joe Biden: you're a corporate lackey, and an Iraq War enabler. Take a long hike, before someone gets the very bad idea of you as a presidential candidate."

2. Correct. He's so smarmy, and he's on all the Sunday shows.
If he's think about running for president, he can forget about my vote.

4. Heard him this morning...
... on NPR, dissing a Harvard economist who was testifying against the bankruptcy bill while it was in committee, definitely shilling for the credit card companies (many of whom are headquartered in Delaware).

I'm beginning to think that if the Rapture actually does occur, the only people left on earth will be politicians....

20. His words on the bankruptcy laws were unbelievable
I couldn't figure out if they were dictated by Master card or Visa! Someone wrote an article about a year ago describing Delaware as being nothing more than a corrupt address of convenience for robber baron corporations. After hearing Biden, I'd have to agree.

8. His comments on Sen. Clinton designed to scare up donations to him!
Edited on Mon Feb-28-05 03:27 PM by Divernan
His recent comments that Sen. Clinton presently would win the Dem primary for 2008 presidential election were self-serving. He's shouting 'Booga-booga" to all those who would oppose her, implying better give money to Biden if they want to stop her.
And the way it works in politics is that the big money lobbyists always cover all the bases, donation -wise. At this stage of the game, when no one knows who the Dem or the GOP candidate will be, the military-industrial interests, for example, will donate to all acceptable (to them)candidates - it's like ante-ing up in a poker hand. You've got to keep throwing chips in the pot if you want to be there when the final bets are made.

10. Anyone hear Biden on Morning Edition (NPR) this AM?
Check out Joe here, defending his big donors: credit card companies.

audio clip, Joe starts shooting off his big mouth at about 3:40
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4515876

They want to force consumers to carry credit card debt FOREVER, even if you go bankrupt. Listen here: Joe is totally on board with the bankers.

who pointed out the usurous interest levels being imposed by credit card companies.

12. Let's not forget his words to Abu Gonzales
“I like you. I like you. You are real -- you're the real deal.”

That's when my distaste for Biden turned into open contempt.

15. Indeed
My contempt for Biden goes back to the Clarence Thomas hearings.

He was the Senate Judiciary chairman then, in 1991.

The Dems ran the Senate. He completely caved to the Republicans on the committee, smiling and grandstanding before the cameras all the while.

I think Joe Biden is a total scumbag.
