Attack of a Humvee (in French)
(French friend sent me this. Below is his translation.)

If you take a look at the following url, you will find an article in french telling you how irakis blow up humvees.

They mainly use unexplosed american 155 mm artillery shells concealed under the roads. They dismantle the shells detonators, replace it with C4 explosives and affix an electronic detonator. C4 explosives are easiliy available in Iraq as most weapons stocks were left without surveillance in the aftermath of the fall of Bagdad.

There are three documents (films) attached at the end of the article :

 a. Attack of a Humvee with a concealed explosive.

 b. Attack of a Humvee with a RPG.

 c. Attack of a Humvee with a concealed bomb.

There are about 100 attacks per day (according to the article). The Pentagone doesn't want to spend an extra 50 000 dollars per humvee for extra protection but about 1/4 of the death in Iraq result from attacks on humvees.

(And if we are to follow our Government's and medias' leadership, I guess I should hate my European friends. Leadership by hatred is what they preach.)

2. just think how many humvees could have been armoured
with just the latest Halliburton overcharge for cooking and heating oil. They charged 27.5 million for 87,000 of oil. Even with a healthy markup for the "danger" of transport - let's say a million (way too much in my opinion, but this is for example) - there would be more than 26 million+ left over... at 50,000 per humvee that would be 520 humvees armoured. It is all about priorities in how our govt's agents choose to allocate the resources dedicated to this war. And imo, their priorities are misguided (towards privatization which lead to huge profits for cronies at the expense of the military on the ground.)

It is difficult to imagine the effects of an IED until you see these films.

Poor guys really.
