Lieberman supports Bush on Social Securtity Privatization!
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 10:06 AM by oc2002
Why is this man in the Democratic party?

This is why Democratic party is as decadent as Ralph Nader says it is.

Dean needs to target congressmen like LieberBush out of the party.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/15/opinion/15krugman.html?hp&oref=login

"But in his latest radio address, Mr. Bush - correctly, this time - attributed the $600 billion figure to a "Democrat leader." He was referring to Senator Joseph Lieberman, who, for some reason, repeated the party line - the Republican party line - the previous Sunday.

My guess is that Mr. Lieberman thought he was being centrist and bipartisan, reaching out to Republicans by showing that he shares their concerns. At a time when the Democrats can say, without exaggeration, that their opponents are making a dishonest case for policies that will increase the risks facing families, Mr. Lieberman gave the administration cover by endorsing its fake numbers.

The push to privatize Social Security will probably fail all the same - but such attempts at accommodation may limit the Democrats' political gain. "

In other words, another missed oportunity to distinguish the Democratic party from Republicans, and to say that we actualy DO stand for something.

Dean, help!

5. He should form his own party or else join the Republicans
This latest action is disgusting. He needs to be deluged with calls and e-mails that ask him why he calls himself a Democrat.

6. Lieberman has this on his website:
Senator Lieberman is unconvinced by the President’s proposal to privatize Social Security through the establishment of private savings accounts carved-out of the current system. Based on what he knows of the plan, the private savings accounts would not preserve the essential guaranteed Social Security benefit and would add trillions of dollars of debt.

Maybe he should be reminded of his own official position.

9. Joseph Enablerman
He wants to show that he's a "good American", and that all "good Americans" should support the President without question.

Throughout history there have always been those who would rather kow tow to those in power, instead of actually fighting. Holy Joe is just like them, if he keeps this up he'll have a lot in common with Neville Chamberlain.

10. Lieberman supported torturer Gonzales and voted for cloture on bankruptcy
Lieberman is a Republican Blue Dog Democrat. He is a Republican hiding behind a Democrat label in order to take Democratic money and get elected. Then he votes Republican. You can't get any more slimey a politician than that. He and Tom Delay, two peas in a pod. No ethics at all.

Why the hell would he do this? It's not even politically smart. Bush's SS plan is incredibly unpopular. :wtf:

15. So what? Clear messages and not supporting neocons is overrated.
We need a big tent party, even if the people we include are intent on destroying it.

16. Getting rid of Lieberman is not Dean's job...
it is OUR fcuking job...stay on the internet...let EVERYONE know that lieberman is a DINO...a Republican plant put into our party to keep us in chaos rather than in unity. And let Lieberman know that we know.

He and Al From and the rest of their honchos at the DLC and the DCCC have done nothing except keep the party in centrist mode and make sure that we lose every election.
oc2002...HELP!

Dean can't do EVERYTHING...for God's sake, write some letters to our other Senators and Congressmen and tell them how disgusted you are with Lieberman.

Write to Lieberman and remind him that even though you may not vote for him, once he reaches Washington he is representing every single person who votes as a Democrat. Write to the man often, not just once. Write to one of your local newspapers. Remember, the last thing these guys want is bad publicity.

Write to some tv show - the talk shows, write to some of the online blogs like MSNBC or CNN and tell them how you feel. They get their information from someone like Lieberman or Al From and those two claim to be talking for the WHOLE Party. Give another side to what they say.

Dean cannot do it all. He has to PICK HIS FIGHTS CAREFULLY to really be effective. We can't drop EVERYTHING into his lap and then sit back and wait for problems to be resolved to our liking.

18. I think Dean does play a role, and will in the next election to...

Get the party on track, first order of busness is to get a strong message accross of what the Democrats stand for. And put on notice those congressman like Leiberbush, that they either are with us or against us.

its that simple. Sure, Dean can not do it all, but next time Leiberbush runs for election, Dean can throw the party support behind another democrat chalanger, and let Leiberbush know thats comin.

Just 5 years ago, Lieberman was the Vice Presidential candidate. Republicrats like Lieberman had complete control of the party. I think they're afraid that they may be in the process of becoming irrelevant, and so they're doing alot of maneuvering.
