Upon reading yesterday that Dean and Kerry are cousins
I couldn't help but think about the "Bush and Kerry are cousins" stuff I've seen on occasion and how people used to think that was somehow relevant to Kerry's behavior after the election, though I haven't seen it so much lately.

Of course, it also follows that if Dean and Kerry are cousins, then so are Dean and Bush.

So how significant is it that Kerry and Bush are related? I would submit that it is not terribly significant at all, or else we'd have to say the same for Dean and Bush.

Even so, I do find pleasure in the fact that the two fellows in my sig picture are related.

4. Here's the info I have
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 01:42 AM by LittleClarkie
"G.W. Bush and John Kerry are calculated to be 9th cousins twice removed and on top of that, Bush and Kerry have several cousins in common — Walt Disney, Michael Douglas, Clint Eastwood, the Wright Brothers, Meriwether Lewis, Hugh Hefner, Clara Barton, Georgia O’Keeffe, Princess Diana — and even former Vermont Governor Howard Dean."

And here's a nifty link showing a whole buncha relations:
http://www.familyforest.com/Kerry_Bush_Cousins.html

According to that link, Kerry and Dean and Bush are all 9th cousins.

Take a look. The link shows alot of people who are related to both Bush and Kerry.

These people need to get out more.

edit: Oh my god, so is Edwards! Aaaaaaaaaah! But they don't show any relation to Kerry for Edwards though.

edit again: Kerry is related to NIXON!! Aaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiii! 9th cousin once removed, just like Bush. I bet that would give ol' John the willies.

6. It's even more disturbing
to note that Bush is related to FDR - but Kerry is even closer in relations to him so that's kinda cool.

9. Kerry is more related to Nixon than he is to Bush
I bet if someone told him that, it would keep him up nights.

I think he'd rather be related to Kennedy. But Kennedy isn't even on the list.

12. John and Nixon?
LOL. How ironic. A cousin took down a cousin. I wonder what he'd say.

21. Um...so?
Bush is MY ninth cousin twice removed, too...doesn't mean anything. I'm probably relted to Dean, too, if you go back far enough.

27. I find it hard to believe
that Edwards and Bush are 9th cousins. WHOLE different social class and part of the country. Bush's blue blood goes way back as does Kerry's.

5. The Kerry, Dean and bushie
families are all originally from the northeast and go back a long way. When that is true the genealogy can usually be connected in one way or the other.

because they are related on different sides of the family.

by blood or through marriage.

10. Yeah, if you go back far enough
...virtually everybody's related. Especially families who were here early. But everybody who had kids, say, 300 years ago, has thousands of descendants by now. Hell, one side of my family's been here since the 1600s, we're probably related to them (though a tumble with a servant, of course. :D).

I thought it was ridiculous too that anyone thought this had any kind of bearing on anything with regard to politics or behavior. I can't even agree on anything to do with politics with my own grandmother, and I wouldn't do jack shit to aid her political career if she had one!

13. Relevance
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 03:15 AM by OldSchoolBoy1212
What does the fact that Both Bush and Kerry are related to Dean have to do with anything of relevance? You really need to get better topics to discuss!!!!

15. As much relevance as bringing up that Kerry and Bush are related
which has happened, as a reason for saying Kerry took a dive.

So I thought I'd point out that it was a rather silly distinction, esp. when you consider that Kerry is MORE related to Nixon than he is to Bush, and yet he had no trouble taking HIM down.

16. Well, Kerry has some on his grandmother's side
But I was looking for Kennedy in there and wondered why the clan wasn't included. Surely one of them is related to the Kennedys

18. Nope...
Kennedy's ancestors are all Irish, and most Irish can't trace their ancestry back very far at all, thanks to the British not recording the births of Catholic children.

That would be Cheney. And I DO have a site to back that up.

But then he's also related to Luke Skywalker.

I agree, but we are DEFINITELY not related to Bush. The Reptilian Dynasty has never engaged in inter-galactic breeding... hence the close-set eyes.
