Poll question: The Lesser of Two Evils--McDonald's or Taco Bell?
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 08:33 PM by strategery blunder
The small fundie town that I live in doesn't exactly have many options, especially on Easter. The Hardee's down the street is closing for good on March 31st (edit: it closed for today as well); it was my alternative to the Twin Evil Empires.:( I am boycotting Taco Bell because of the Sinclair advertising/Stolen Honor flap, and today it came down between a choice between Taco Bell and McDonald's, the two open places in town (the grocery stores, except for WalMart, were all closed, and WalMart is the Satan incarnate of business).:eyes:

As the dorm cafeterias were also closed, I had to choose between the lesser of two evils, or fast for the day (not a good idea, as I get lightheaded if I go more than 24 hours without food). Even though I am actively boycotting Taco Bell, in choosing which place to patronize, I decided that they were the lesser of two evils.

Furthermore, with the closing of the Hardee's, this becomes a very important question for me. What say you?

3. Personally, I say McDonald's
For one thing, I hate the food at Taco Bell. But more importantly, some of my older relatives were migrant workers once upon a time, and the boycott hit a personal chord with me.

4. McDonald's has fish and fries and salads.
If that's what you're into. Taco Bell doesn't really have any 'less fried and bad for you' foods.

Plus, it's my fast food true love. That'd always be my first stop, even with the Hardee's.

5. What's an even tougher choice is...
... who's more evil: Bill O'Reilly or Karl Rove?

6. Taco Bell tends to be much less nutritionally destructive,
particularly if you're careful with what you order.

7. Taco Bell
1. I have fond memories of their bean burritos when I was in college and stoned A LOT.

2. I live in France now and have yet to see any country in Europe without a McD's. I'd have to say they are far more the intrusive, colonial empire.

8. Concept!
How's about buying fresh food at the store, cooking it at home, and saving energy, money and, your health at the same time?

11. The grocery stores, too.
Otherwise, I would have gone to the grocery store, no question--but that wasn't an option either.

Fortunately, here in New Orleans we have lots of mom and pop restaurants to choose from... oyster po-boys, crawfish etoufee, aligator sausage, seafood gumbo... all can be purchased as cheap as fast food restaurants, if you know where to go. ;)

I consider them both about equal. I think they are the second class when it comes to fast food, but every now and then they are ok.

I suppose if I had to choose it would be Mcdonalds

...you'll be able to make much better quesadillas and burritos yourself.

26. There's a kitchenette on every floor.
I'll have a microwave next year. I would have n00ked some food if I had any...and like I said, the grocery stores are closed. (I should have prepared for this on Friday, but I didn't.)

24. I voted Taco Bell, but I'm sorry you had to choose between two
really unappetizing options. :P

BTW, I think that from now on, every poll should include the "Shut up, you lousy freeper troll" option. Might cut down on flaming. ;)

27. Hehehe...I put that as an option on every poll I make on DU.
On the other message board I post on, I just leave out the word "freeper" because no one there would know what it means.;)

25. I hate the Taco Hell drive-thru.
You get this perky young RECORDED female voice reading this spiel about their latest insult to real Mexican cuisine, then you tell them what you want, and finally you get Carlton The Doorman confirming your order. I guess they can't get their drive-thru people to convincingly and consistently welcome you to Taco Hell and pimp their Double Fried Steak Fajitas, so they've automated it.

28. Hmmm. Well, I might have looked around for an open gas station
and gotten a box of cereal and a carton of milk there, but failing that option, I'd realistically have chosen McDonalds. I would have gotten a plain regular hamburger and a fruit and yogurt parfait.

29. Taco Bell
I can eat taco bell. It doesn't taste that good, but everytime I eat at McDonald's I feel queasy afterward. It's very gross.

30. Both are horrible for you.
But being that you had no other options Taco Bell was probably the better choice but only by a scant amount. You really shouldn't eat any of that crap.
