I couldn't even GET a feeding tube
thanks to my PPO, if I ended up severely brain damaged.

Me and tens of millions of other Murkans.

3. Yeah, but just think!
Now individuals can petition congress.

If America is LUCKY, we can tie congress up with thousands of petitions to intervene in private matters and they can't go about their usual business of further destroying America.

4. I couldn't get a feeding tube either,
because I don't have any type of insurance. Thank you, Mr. Bush!

We lost it when DH lost his job in 2001, and my employer never offered it...

Peace,
Whitedove

5. Here's what I don't understand.
If the gop is so damned interested in the culture of life... can we assume they'll be putting forth legislation to require health care providers to provide feeding tubes?

I would expect nothing less.

9. Who's DH?
I don't know if I could get one with my insurance, which I have to pay for myself, even though I don't currently have a job, pushed out by new technology.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but are you a "Native American?" If yes, I think that is very cool.

I'd never have to get off the couch again.

8. Do You Like Your Ensure On The Rocks?
I talked to a friend whose mother is suffering from age and cancer...slowly losing stamina and the ability to take care of herself, but still, according to "powers that be" to handle her own medical bills and on time!!! She was presented with a bill from a recent hospital stay where her insurance company conveniently decided nearly half of the treatment was not necessary and refused to cover it...leaving over $12,000 for this 70-something woman with no income to fend for herself.

According to a Texas law Commander Bunnypants signed, if she were to become fully incapacitated, the hospital could refuse to treat her for an extended period simply since she can't afford to pay for all the extraordinary care she would need.

It's a shame how our elderly are ignored and that insurance companies can play god on the lives and peace of mind of these people and their families. Tonight there are millions in America who would cherish the most basic medical coverage, and who not only wants to prevent them from having it, but also suck the last gold nugget from the poor as well.
