"War is a Racket!"
Here's the link, words that ring as true now as they did seventy years ago.

4. I often wonder why the world can't do to war what it did to slavery . . .
Edited on Mon Mar-28-05 02:27 AM by OneBlueSky
i.e. ban it . . . outlaw it . . . demonize it . . .

no, it didn't stop all slavery . . . but it made a statement, established an ideal, set a goal . . . and, most importantly, it's something that virtually the entire world -- practically all nations -- have agreed to! . . .

why can't we do the same for war? . . .

no, it wouldn't stop all wars . . . but it would make a statement, establish an ideal, set a goal . . . and if all nations agreed to it (say, through the UN), what a powerful message that would send! . . .

NO MORE WAR! . . . OF COURSE it's do-able! . . .

on edit:

Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream
words and music by Ed ("Big Ed") McCurdy

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

I dreamed I saw a mighty room
Filled with women and men
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again

And when the paper was all signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful pray'rs were prayed

And the people in the streets below
Were dancing 'round and 'round
While swords and guns and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd never dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.
