Have you wondered about the size of the FL protests? photos...

Maybe, you'd be interested in inspecting one of those wider shots to help determine that media-protester ratio:

Or, could I could interest you in a view of the teeming hoards that converged on the Governor's mansion to demand action.

Finally, check the throng holding forth at the County Courthouse for the last ditch appeal of the Governor's petition:

4. Should war protestors carry giant crucifixes around with them?
Somehow I doubt that would make a difference in the coverage they received.

11. Good point. There's also the fact that a small crowd
of lunatics can (at least partially) spur bushyboy to sign "emergency" legislation in the middle of the night, and yet he dismisses those hundreds of thousands of anti-war protesters as a "focus group."

17. So don't say "Why don't we have protests like those right wingers"
Edited on Mon Mar-28-05 03:13 PM by gorbal
That is why it gets to me, when people come on here saying "Why don't we have huge anti-war protests in the states?" We do, we have had some of the largest in history in the past few years, I know, I attended them. it's just that the media doesn't report them, so to most of the united states, they never happend.

19. Yep
You're right. I saw a couple of the photo threads of anti-war protestors and majority of them had a pretty big turn out. Here locally there was an anti-war protest and it got a little bit of coverage on the local news. At least it was something.

3. I HAVE wondered. I read 50 protestors somewhere, don't remember where
Does anyone know if any media outlet has put a number to it? It's such a disgrace that they haven't. Such a dead giveaway that the media wants to pump this up as being bigger than it is. If the country saw the truth of how few these people are in number, it might see them as the crackpots they are.

9. With fair media reporting
Simply fair, maybe with robots instead of human readers, this would a devastating fatal setback for Bush. It would show the miniscule fringe that the whole GOP leadership is using or kowtowing too(silly and scary) shows that Bush's fundamentalist base is not only split but perhaps quicksand.

In fact it is lose all around but the media failure give Rove ample opportunity to do what he will and keep the rational reaction of America forever at bay.

Whatever the failure of the GOP or media to CONVINCE people to their side
they still succeed in rendering follow through blind and mute, and a persistent nuisance. The media failure itself goes on with impunity where even dwindling listeners means more people go uncentered and blind into events that will shape their lives. You can say no to the spin but you can't effect the abuses. So far.

And the party leadership would be wrong, once the eye of the hurricane MIGHT give them a time to comment on the farce, not to get to the heart of the problem and RALLY the majority of the people to what is really going on in America. And not blow the opportunity.

12. A very good point!
I had that yesterday. In my channel-flipping, I went through MSNBC (I believe) and stayed long enough to notice that the crowd gathered just didn't seem to warrant the term "crowd". They had repeated shots of the "protest" scene, and it looked to me to be mostly press.

They kept showing the same signs over and over. I thought that several signs looked like they were in the same handwriting. Anyone else notice that?

22. "a thick, fervent crowd remains" the NYT says today
snip>
The legal battle over the life of Terri Schiavo may have ended, but a thick, fervent crowd remains in the makeshift encampment outside the Woodside Hospice House here.

In numbers, they were not as great on Easter as they were on the previous three days, when the legal and public relations battle came to its bitter climax....
<end snip

Further along, numbers are cited that have not represented by any photo or video I've seen...

snip>
Only about two dozen people turned up for a dawn Easter service outside the hospice. But by early afternoon, as the muggy heat intensified, the crowd had swelled to over 100, still far fewer than in previous days, but louder, angrier, more demonstrative.

24. FAUX slipped this afternoon
Mentioned that the size of the protesters was "approximately two dozen".

Crap, we packed (well over 300 people) Faneuil Hall in Boston on January 3 to hear David Lytel, Pat LaMarche and several others talk about election fraud. It was the Monday before the Thursday Congressional electoral college vote. Lytel announced that Senator Boxer would be joining Rep. Tubbs-Jones in the Ohio challenge.

Think this made the media?
Think the media even showed?

I blogged it on CGCS. Will probably did the same in FYI.

34. When the MSM doesn't show you a wide shot
it means they're hiding the crowd size. They want us to think it's a HUGE crowd. Remember the Saddam statue in Baghdad? They never showed a wide shot of that and eventually it came out in OTHER pics that the crowd was very small....not what the MSM and the administration wanted anyone to know. Those THOUSANDS of Iraqis were suppose to be ELATED that we were there. The MSM had egg on their faces.
