Statement from Jimmy Carter on Pope
Death of Pope John Paul II: A Statement from Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter

2 Apr 2005

ATLANTA....Rosalynn and I are saddened by the passing of His Holiness, Pope John Paul II. A man shaped by his own experience under Nazi occupation during World War II, he dedicated his life and vocation as instruments of peace throughout the world. His was a constant voice for justice, nonviolence, and reconciliation for both individuals and nations. As a spiritual leader, he emphasized the common humanity of people of all faiths. His advocacy for the poor and oppressed will prevail as a source of hope and inspiration for others to follow. We will remember him with love and gratitude for his faithfulness to peace and human rights.

4. Just more political bullshit. The Pope was against women's rights.
The Pope stood for and fought against the very basic freedoms that women fought for in the last 100 years: the right to contraception, the right to choose an abortion if that is what is best for their situation--the basic right that men have always had, of dominion over their own bodily parts.

This pope stood against everything that advocates for women's rights battled for, and sometimes died for.

6. I guess some are thinking that he should have said, "I hope he rots in
Hell". Jimmy himself is a Christian...and yet we do not speak ill of the man.
