Clarification

Stars and Stripes
European edition, Saturday, April 2, 2005

A headline on a March 27 story, which said Army retention rates in Europe were “booming,” was misleading. The article said 1st ID and 1st AD retention goals were exceeded, but numbers were not given that would indicate great volume. Moreover, the thrust of the article was not about retention rates per se, but about how the war in Iraq had affected some soldiers’ decisions whether to re-enlist.

***************

The Stripes newspaper headline for last Sunday read

"Army retention rates booming in Europe"

Here's the original piece, which clearly doesn't support the headline.

Hopefully, Stripes will do a followup as to what the reup figures for 1AD/1ID actually are.
