Edited on Sun Apr-03-05 10:59 AM by Guckert
that could keep him alive for years.
Would Fox news say he is murdering himself??

Idiot Brit Hume said the Pope's situation is not the same.
Exactly, His Mommy is not alive to contest HIS WISH TO DIE WITH DIGNITY, Brit you ass!!!!

1. oh but conservatives only make rules for everyone ELSE
Like Tom Delay, who chose to have his Poppa die with dignity but doesn't want that right for other families.

2. He wouldn't have been alive for years
He was weakened and dying of a nasty infection. His organs failed. He was conscious until near the end.
Terri had healthy organs. She could not perform the behavior of swallowing.
Really, there was nothing that they could do for the Pope. Any medical procedure done, during his weakened state, could have killed him sooner. Even if it hadn't, it wouldn't have saved his organs for long either. Even with good medical care and technology, you can't save everyone.
The Pope was receiving medical attention at his residence. Personally, if I could get a couple doctors to come to my home when I've been extremely ill, I rather have that happen than go to the hospital.

3. Do you consider the brain an organ?
She was brain dead.

The Pope was lucky, he was able to nix any heroic measures to prolong his life. Unfortunately for Terri, her demise was sudden and she never recovered sufficiently to let her Doctors and family know that maintaining her body on body support indefinitely was unacceptable. Sadly, some Republicans used this situation to undermine the husband and the courts in order to score points with their base.

4. His will was to die with dignity, the same with Terri. the only difference
is, the pope's parents are dead. thus, they cannot push their selfish wants in lieu of the wishes of the dying.
