+ This week

As Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon pushes forward with his plan to evacuate Gaza settlements this summer, FRONTLINE this week examines the extremists who could derail any movement toward peace in the Middle East.

The threat from radical Palestinian groups is well understood. Israel
has insisted that the Palestinian Authority rein them in. But the
Israeli government may have a reining in challenge of its own. Less
reported in the West is the existence of a small but dangerous group of Jewish extremists who also may have the power to disrupt the ability of the two sides to reach and carry out a peace agreement.

Veteran Israeli filmmaker Dan Setton, who previously has made films
about radical Islamists, decided it was time to look at some of his
fellow Israelis. As he told FRONTLINE in an interview to be published on the program's web site:

"...The issue of Jewish fundamentalists, Jewish extremists, has been on the agenda in Israel for the past couple of years. During the Intifada they gained momentum and became vocal. I thought it was important to try go deep inside their world. Every religion has its extremists, I guess it was time to deal with my own. I wanted to meet the people that I only heard about on the news, to visit their homes, to see what they were about, to hear what they had to say. So I started by visiting various settlements in the West Bank. ... We spent about a year working on the film."

.....

In addition to a revealing portrait of these Israeli extremists, Dan's film offers a detailed look into how the police investigated and pursued one particular case that involved a plan to set off a bomb at a Palestinian girls school.

3. Thanks for the information
A lot of people seem to have the impression that the Jews in Israel present a united front, and that is definately not the case. My fear is that these extremists and the extremist Muslims will destroy any hope for peace in the Middle East.
