A Suggestion: a Blogger Tip Alert Forum.
AS everyone knows, we have a lot of bloggers (some widely read) who are members of DU and post regularly. We also regularly get posts in different forums of news and events that we all know will not be covered by the MSM. For instance, in LBN there's a post about evidence the ACLU has that the torture was approved "high up", and the ACLU website states that they have filed against Rummy!

Will the MSM report on this? Most DU'ers think not. BUT, it can be BLOGGED!

If we had a forum where we could post items like this that we expect the MSM to ignore but that we would like to see spread across as many blogs as possible. Also, DU Bloggers could go to one forum and look for items that they could follow-up on, instead of sifting through innumerable posts on various threads.

Bloggers! What do you think?

1. Great Idea.
The bloggers need their own forum. While I am very pleased about the Latest Breaking News forum, bloggers need a place to post their stories that do not fall in the category.

3. Run with it, Bloggers!
Great idea - otherwise, we're mostly preaching to the choir (and to the Freepers, to no avail) without such a forum.

Is there anything that we non-bloggers could do to help with this?

4. Non-bloggers are already doing it! That's the point.
Look at all the DU'ers scanning wedbsites, including International sites, and finding information that seems to escape the notice of MSM. Non-bloggers just need to keep on posting these snippets but post them somewhere to catch the attention of our Blogger members to get the message out.

Imagine, the Bloggers would have hundreds or maybe thousands of DU field reporters to help them find stories.

No Network News Media Whore Corp could ever afford that! Or compete with it...

7. Well, I was waiting to have an actual Blogger to weigh in on this
idea before I took it to the Administrators. But since none have maybe it's not such a useful idea, after all.

13. No, no, no, it's a GREAT idea --
I frankly think that SOME items ought to be SENT to key bloggers. They can't find/read everything, you know.

There's also a Bloggers Group among the DU Groups. I've not checked it out, but please I encourage you to and maybe post your idea there, or request their presence here.

and posted over there with a link to this thread.

Thanks again!

8. yep, if enough blog on story, it will rise to top of search results too
Edited on Sun Apr-03-05 02:52 PM by yurbud
If enough of us did the story on Jeff Gannon and Bush's own hushed up sexual proclivities, pretty soon when a freeper is trying to find a gay bashing site, they'll find the story on
the ambassador to Poland--which is on my site

http://mysite.verizon.net/myk15/art.html

and link to my blog

http://professorsmartass.blogspot.com

Linking to pages raises their standings in search results too. If others post their blog links in this thread, I'll add them to my blog, and others ought to do the same.

And of course do the high profile blogs like talking points memo, bradblog, and Daily Kos.

10. HI! So, as a Blogger,
do you think a separate "News Tips" forum where DU'ers could post "under-reported news items" would be useful? Would you check it for any items you might be able to use? Do you think other bloggers would use it?

11. MOST of news here is under-reported
Just post and comment on the stories that catch your attention.

9. I send all my links from great blog finds and news items here
to Countdown@msnbc.com

It's the most progressive program we have in the MSM now, and they usually cover the news no one else is.

We have to find allies in the media willing to cover these stories, and I think Keith Olbermann is one of them!

15. Sort of like the AP or Ananova of Blogville.

The Blogger's own Wire Service!

Though I am not a blogger, I do like the idea because it would help all of us get to the meat of what is out there.

The forum would need to be heavily vetted, though so aas not to turn into another 2-cents-a-thon.

It'd also help those of us with media contacts so we could point them to something digestible and succinct that they could , themselves, run with.

18. I noticed that all the main liberal bloggers
link back and forth to each other....and even CNN and MSNBC have a "blog report" every day. So, it would be nice to have a blog-roll of our own, so we wouldn't have to keep checking the different blogs all day. If we do this, it needs to be one of the main message boards, not hidden away somewhere...I never think to check all the other message boards here on DU, just the LBN, and the 2 GDs. Really good idea.

20. A great site that has a tremendous blog roll
This site is recommended by one of my favorite liberal bloggers (Oliver Willis), and once I checked it out, I really loved it...it has so many categories, and features alot of our favorite bloggers (Including OW). If you want a bookmarked site that covers all the main bloggers, this is it:
