The key to ruining the Reconstructionists is to get them in the public eye
One of them was on Washington Journal this morning. The man could not stop talking about Jesus Christ. This may turn on a tiny portion of the population, but I feel pretty certain that a majority of people will find such talk a major turn off, even among Christians. Jesus and the Constitution do not mix for most people. Somehow, we have to lure these people out into the sunlight.

1. I certainly agree
They're having a major convention or something today & tomorrow, I think in Washington. C-Span certainly is giving them the floor today.

Maybe some DUers can put our heads together how we can get some public dialogue going on the subject...

19. Tim Lee?
He used to have this small church in the industrial east side of Garland - guess he had to sell it some time ago. He's been at this "God and Country" schtick for at least 20 years.

11. That IS a cheesy looking website.
I wanted to send a profane email, but they did not have a link.

Can you imagine the type of world we will soon live in if these ass-wipes get their way?

15. I've been looking at the Website of the Vision America
which organized this conference (allegedly). Their pressroom's latest release is from last July, and it concerns the defense of marriage act.

People say these guys are sophisticated communicators, but their web savvy is shockingly nil.

2. Definitely.
Most Evangelicals and/or Fundamentalists would be disgusted if they knew the real plans these creeps have for all of us. This site is a good source of info:

4. I think you are right as well
I think the inherent problem for the Republicans right now is that the Fundies feel like they are responsible for the success of the Repubilcan Party. They feel like they are owed a bigger seat at the table a bigger slice of the pie. And while Bush has paid lip service to their goals it's clear that his heart belongs to big business and not to them. So they are going to force themselves into the public eye more and more, blissfully unaware of how they look to the rest of America!

5. Furthermore, Tom DeLay may be putting his foot deeper and deeper
into the trap they unwittingly set for him. He was supposed to be a keynote speaker at the conference being broadcast on CSPAN today, but the Pope's funeral diverted him.

7. Publicizing their ties with the Moonies would be a good tactic
I've shocked some fundie fans of Left Behind by revealing to them that Tim LaHaye has ties with Sun Myung Moon. Here they've been taught that the Moonies are an evil cult, and yet they're being urged to read books by an affiliate of the Moonies.

You can almost see their their eyeballs do multiple back flips as they digest this information.

20. two baotist two catholic friends
i have tlaked to them enough for the year that if they started listening to these people they would immediately go to the conversations i have had with them. they dont listen to news, hide from it, but i have set a foundation for them, so everytime one of these people speak they will say, this is what she is talking

maybe they wil accept a little of the responsibility in understanding their religions part, and how i dont wnat to have rules i have to follow because of their beliefs

22. Excellent idea.
It would be good to engage them, as the evolutionists did in the 1980s, which put the creationists to shame.

23. We could set up local town halls
ask them to come and talk about their theo-political goals with the town. Also have someone who is for seperation of church and state speaking as counterpoint.

24. Indeed. Shame them into obscurity once more.
This is NOT a Christian nation. It is a secular one that does not interfere with one's ability to believe or not believe.
