Springer on AAR is effing brilliant!
Welcome, Jerry!

His show is the antithesis of everything the Bloviating Pig Boy from EIB claims liberals are. He is positive, uplifting, not the whining pessimists we're so often painted as on Hate Radio. I'm very impressed so far. I just wish there was a way you could get a Bushie to listen to him this morning, talking about "SACRIFICE."

Sends chills up my spine.

1. harumph
it is hard to argue with what you say.
but, i miss rachel and liz. i tune in to aar for company in my outrage. i thought franken was soft enough.
i also wonder about how jerry joined, and the shift to xm, and all that behind the scenes stuff. i am p.o.'ed about that one. not just because i spent all this money on sirius equipment, but because i think xm shareholders will at least try to interfere.

2. I love Jerry
Jerry is great. I'm liking him. He does go off on his rants but not like Malloy or Rhandi. Rachel is having her own show that starts today I think. It's supposed to be a news show.

3. What's up with this?
Sirius will drop AAR? WTF? Are you sure about that?

9. Sirius will drop AAR in 90 days.
I'll answer my own question. I've been a bit behind on this one.
Called AAR and they verified that they'll be dropped from Sirius in three months time.
And this after my Sirius receiver was ripped off out of my car and I proceeded to buy a replacement.

5. You have valid gripes, but still...
This is what "we" need. Instead of three hours of bitching, he is talking reality, but on more positive terms, in terms of community and country, the "old skool" values the Republicans claim to own. Where Springer broadcasts isn't an issue related to his content...sorry you got stuck, but that is the risk when you're an Early Adopter of technology. Wanna see my museum of old Mac peripherals?

There are still many hours reserved for bitching on AAR. And Springer won't be able to keep up the Uncle Patriot Power Hour schtick forever. Rachel and Liz were good, but I found AAR had too much of a whiney female liberal Northeaster flavor. Franken only made it more whiney and Northeast. Springer mellows it out, brings more of "real" America to the party.

That's my humble opinion, anyway. But I've only been listening to Springer for about 45 minutes now. Things could change.

4. Who'da thunk it!
In my wildest imagination I would never have thought I'd have respect for Jerry Springer -- not based on his TV show -- BUT, I'm happy to say he's changed my mind about him.

22. Springer is actually a pretty good guy.
He's made mistakes in his political career and admits to it. (I think involved with a prostitute, but I also think he wasn't married to anyone either)

His show went into the gutter and he let it for the money. He knows that. He's honest about it. But he is in fact a pretty decent guy, pretty smart, and who else knows what poverty, lack of insurance and lack of government funding can do to people then Jerry, King of the trailor park guests?

Jerry knows the plight of the poor people. I'm glad people are starting to see the other side of him. I would vote for him for office if he ran in my town. Really. I think he knows whats going on.

8. You should
I agree with the poster above who said he isn't whiney and all that. He just talks about various things and takes phone calls. He isn't totally rude to republicans who call in and he tries to find commonground and things like that. I like him and think he's perfect for this type of the morning. Can you imagine going into work at 9am or waking up to Mr. Malloy or Rhandi? They did the time frame really perfectly I think.

but I have to say he is improving very quickly and will probably be a great asset for AAR.

11. I agree 100% I made a similar post about a month back
He was filling in for Randi Rhodes here in Albuquerque and he has a wonderful way with people who disagree with him and how he makes his points. I think he is the smartest Host on progressive side.

13. Yep
Now he's saying how he was involved in an anti-war protest and he was going with the protestors and they were supposed to go to the UN and march but the police tricked them and they ended up at a dead end. And I liked what he says about "Patriots Day" and he's saying he thinks a patriot is someone who wants what's good for the country and all that and he doesn't like how Bush and his people do planning for things.

15. He's simply the best of all of them
Edited on Thu Apr-14-05 09:54 AM by Must_B_Free
Better than Franken, Better than Randi Rhodes, Better than Malloy, Better than Sedar...

His show is listenable. He's not boring and self centered like Franken, not juvenile like Sedar, doesn't get mad like Malloy and Randi, - I can't subscribe to those angst emotions on a long term basis.

Springer brings it down to a level that common people can relate to.

His story about coming to America was touching. This guy is the best, and I was the one who objected the most, but I like the show a lot.

17. Glad to know that Jerry is getting some respect
He is a communicator who can turn around our party. Our republican news paper editor came away very impressed after a Springer interview last year. I don't watch his stupid show, but I will turn in to hear Jerry the Democrat any day of the week.

18. I agree. Springer is great and is just what AAR needs.
He appears very well informed and constantly maintains an upbeat, problem-solving attitude. He is polite with all callers and explains things thoroughly to the occasional freeper, in language they can easily understand (though they may choose not to).

I also like how he stays focused on topics. Randi and all the others tend to get led off on weird tangents sometimes, but Springer and his posse are solid.

Springer also connects well with the type of people who watched his TV show. I think he will draw a lot of new listeners from that pool, and they will probably be very surprised and may even learn something.

I think he's the best thing to happen to AAR in months.

21. I couldn't agree with you more...
His message is clear, concise, positive and given in terms that few could disagree with. I'm not kidding, the Democratic Party should solicit his services to get their message and, dare I say it, talking points in line. If every Dem were to speak in these simple terms, the stigma of the word "liberal" that the RWers have been working decade to demonize would be shattered in short order.
