Al and his callers will politely and jokingly ask Joe the right questions to put him on the defensive and squirm a bit. With the exception of Jonah Goldberg - nobody really gets angry at Al - Rightie or Leftie.

Al is something many people don't like or understand today --- an old fashion courteous gentleman of the polite left.

I think of my long gone grandfather when I listen to Al (Grand Dad raised me, a real FDR leftie). "He's a nice boy -- and he asks the right questions -- and he's very smart like my brother David."
