1. I'm not certain how

you can be a liberal and support a man who calls liberalism spiritually "dangerous," and claims pro-choice Catholics and all non-Catholics are Hellbound.

Edited to remove pointing out glaring grammatical error, since fixed.

2. Not mention thinks gay and lesbians are "evil."
From what I've read the Germans aren't even that keen on him.

3. Cardinal Ratzinger - one of the prime movers for ecumenical engagement
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 01:05 PM by Tinoire
Congratulations and may the Holy Spirit give him the strength to continue along his path. After Vatican II, Cardinal Ratzinger was one of the prime movers for ecumenical engagement and engagement with Jews and Muslims is an extremely important concern right now.

Much more important than we realize when you look at the world the neo-Liberals and Conservatives are preparing for us.

6. and how exactly is he going to oppose conservatism?
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 01:15 PM by arcos
He's way far to the right...

In my opinion, they could hardly have chosen someone worse.

He also once wrote that Catholicism was the "only true religion". Very ecumenical and tolerant of him... :eyes:

"How many doctrinal winds we have known in these last decades, how many ideological currents, how many styles of thought," he lamented.

"The thought of many Christians has often been tossed about by these waves, tossed from one end to the other: from Marxism to liberalism, to libertinism, from collectivism to radical individualism, from atheism to religious mysticism, from agnosticism to syncretism," the prelate observed. "
