GOP Aide: Frist doesn't have the votes for filibuster ban
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/305721p-261517c.html

Robertson's comments came with a showdown looming in the Senate over seven of President Bush's conservative judicial nominees who have been blocked by Democrat filibusters. Republicans have threatened a "nuclear option" to pass the judges by rewriting Senate rules to stop the filibusters.

Sources told the Daily News that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist lacks the 50 votes he needs, which could be a blow to his presidential hopes. "I don't think Frist has the votes," a GOP aide said. "He's now in his own corner. If he doesn't have the votes, he's really screwed."

Robertson echoed that sentiment. "I just don't see him as a future President," Robertson said.

1. the NRA and others
are talking against the changing of the Filibuster rules. The assault weapons ban would be passed without it. And when the NRA talks, a lot of Repugs (and some Zells) listen.

Funny his trip to the middle east coming at this time.

4. They blocked 60 of Clinton's Appeals Court judges
A lot more than the 10 judges of Bush's that the Dems have blocked! Grrr.... they make me so mad, the hypocrites.

Who's painted himself into a corner. There's hardly a bigger fuckwad than Frist. Bring it on, douche! If you had the votes you would have done it already, asshole. As if we don't know that. What a fucking moron. He's playing poker with his cards pasted to his forehead.

5. Hmm, a little problem calling a new reality into existence?
But that first chapter in Genesis makes it sound so easy! God said let there be light, and there was light. Frist said, let there be enough votes to kill the filibuster and . . . and . . . Just a second. And . . .

Dammit.

6. Will hurt but might not be the end
Frist most llikely will argue before the religious right that he tried, but was blocked by Democrats and RINO's. Of course he didn't help his case when he tried to play it both ways in his televised appearance last week.

I don't see Frist having what it takes to win, but I don't think that failing to pass the nuclear option will be the deciding point

7. Look at the headline
Robertson: Judges worse than Al Qaeda

Sure shows where the priorities are on the far right.

Has anyone informed Robertson that most federal courts are dominated by Republicans?

9. McCain
If you can believe him, McCain has said he is against the nuclear option too. I don't have his exact quote but he said something to the effect that Republicans will someday not be in the majority and they will not be able to filibuster a judge they don't like. Could come back to bite them in the future.

IF you can believe or trust what he says.
