What does everyone make of the Huffingtonpost blog?
I like it in theory and some of the stuff has been amusing (Larry David's bit on John Bolton in particular). But there are just too many people involved and it seems very cluttered. Particularly since most of the celebrity entries have a "Look Ma, I'm blogging!!" feel about them. Some almost remind me of Larry King's horrid musings, or the parody they inspired, the Jackie Harvey bits on the Onion ( "Item!").

A lot of the stuff just seems half-thought out and posted just for the sake of posting. Which is great for message boards, but just seems to not fit in this context.

I hope it gets better since I really want to like it. But as of now I'm sort of dissapointed.

1. I think it's got a lot of potential.
They've got an impressive line-up of people. We'll see if it works out.

I liked the post by Jim Lampley:

Who knew that any sportscasters were leftys?

2. Give it time
These are rookie bloggers for the most part.

I think it is going to end up being a pretty big thing, but the anti-hollywood right is going to rip it 24/7.

3. i love it. jim lampleys post alone makes it all worth it but
there is so much more than that

it is busy (has lots of information) but you just have to sort through what interests you
for me i can easily spend hours because the breadth of topics and bloggers and links is just incredible.

this is far beyond interesting to me. its another real part of building a network to take this country in a sane direction. now how many different people will read it i cant say but it signifies something incredibly important:
it links us together. along the lines of dfa or moveon did, it lets us know there are so many people out there who care about this country and democracy. and they have something to say (about it) and now a great place to say it all in one place

its not all presented seriously but all of it winds its way back to the serious and basic issues that impact us all. and its highly entertaining to boot

4. So far, so very good.
It's a cut above many blogs so far, and the folks posting are an interesting group. I've already bookmarked it and plan to follow it for the next week or so while it finds its "weblegs".

5. It's only day 2.
I think it's great. It's designed well and I like the different voices.
I believe that it will improve once everyone settles in and gets the feel of it.

10. Looks like it started off well until
I noticed that it seemed like Real Time with Bill... I mean, other than Conyers, it is Real Time with Bill, no? And it boasts a large MSM news resource listing with no mention of indie/alternative press at al.

This seems to me to be the celebrity version of Crossfire mixed with some of Bill's sassy gasps of something or other and to "balance" things out against the left, much of it is skewing in its first hours toward the right... example, Joe S...

Or, it is a celebrity all star cast of jack the blog off... minus Conyers, of course.

I sent them an email stating some of my concerns... I mean does Joe S not already have enough air time, blog time, lie time? Does he need yet another forum to lie in? So I demanded that they give me a blog, lol. Seeing that I don't actually have a blog, this would work. I doubt Huff would puff a response to the likes of me... I don't have enough Real Time hours logged.
