Bush, Karen Hughes, Muslims, and the 'christian' Right
Edited on Mon May-16-05 12:08 PM by ck4829
How can the Bush Administration reach out to Muslims when the biggest supporters of the Bush Administration are Bigots who hate people who aren't in their eyes 'christian'? The 'christian' Right hates Muslims just like they hate everyone who is not a 'christian' RW'er.

I usually don't post quotes that reflect Anti-Muslim bigotry, because I am a Muslim myself. But, in this case I will make an exception. How can a person profess to want to reach out to Muslims with one hand and then hold the hand of people who hate Muslims, along with many other groups, at the same time?

"We should just turn the sheriff loose and have him arrest every Muslim that crosses the state line."
-U.S. Rep. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Valdosta Daily Times, 11/20/01

"If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as
a human being." - Jerry Falwell

"I think Mohammed was a terrorist. He - I read enough of the history of his life written by both Muslims and – and - non-Muslims, that he was a - a violent man, a man of war. And I do believe that - Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses. And I think that Mohammed set an opposite example." - Jerry Falwell

"When I said during my presidential bid that I would only bring Christians and Jews into the government, I hit a firestorm. `What do you mean?' the media challenged me. `You're not going to bring atheists into the government? How dare you maintain that those who believe in the Judeo Christian values are better qualified to govern America than Hindus and Muslims?' My simple answer is, `Yes, they
are.'" - Pat Robertson

1. If you're a Muslim, I guess you can console yourself with the fact..
that Robertson and Falwell don't hate you specifically --- they hate and denigrate ANYBODY who doesn't share their narrow, intolerant view of religion whether you're a Muslim, Jew, agnostic, atheist or even a fellow Christian (if you don't accept their brand of Christianity).

2. Go easy on Robertson and Falwell - they both share Jesus' narrow
and intolerant view of religion and mankind. I'm sure they can point to specific passages in the NT where Jesus said you're either with me or against me.

End Sarcasm.

3. In a country that has freedom of religion
in their constitution, no one in goverment should push a christian agenda. Not every American is a christian. When our goverment calls themselves "christian right" they are excluding every other tax paying American. They are weakening the constitution. They are the "christion wrong".:argh:

6. Shortly after 9/11
I remember Bush doing some speech (when I could still at least tolerate to listen to him) and he said not to hate Muslims and everything.

7. Oh. I thought it
Was something more recently. I don't know what the view of the Bush administration is in the Muslim world not having been there. But all public opinion polls suggest there despised. Here in America know this: in 2000 Bush got 42% of the Muslim vote, a number that would have been much higher had it not been for Black Muslims, this year he got something like 7%.
