when I wrote this email to the editors of newsweek.
----------------------------------- I am writing to commend you, and your Newsweek team on more likely than not, fair, balanced, and accurate reporting regarding the prison abuses of Islamic detainees at Guantanamo Bay, specifically regarding the desecration of the Holy Quran. First, I would like to commend the author on this article for attempting to inform the public as to how our current administration operates, through fear and abuse. It is truly unfortunate that Newsweek was forced to retract this story based on the assumption that it sparked riots in the middle east. I'm not a betting man, but if I were I would assume that riots in the middle east are more likely caused by our ongoing illegal (i.e. Memo released May 5th from the UK, I would still like to see this as a headline by the way, seeing as if just may be the most damning piece of evidence in Presidential abuse-of-power history, but I digress) wars in that region, and less to do with a Newsweek article. Today I am saddened to know that millions of American citizens have once again been blinded by this administration, and by a coercive media that is willing to do anything and everything necessary to protect their corporate interests at the expense of the average American citizen. For once, I thought Newsweek and MSNBC had some balls and was doing some serious reporting. Unfortunately, once again, I was wrong. The power of the elite has rightfully been protected as the expense of everyone else. Newsweek, you should have been proud of yourself for finally showing some backbone, now I have nothing but contempt for your journalistic integrity. You have joined the ranks of the rest of the unreliable, partisan hackery that continues to push this country into ruin. I hope you're happy.
Brian
PS. I hope you know that no where in the constitution, or even in any laws for that matter, does it say that an "independent" media has the duty to cover up the dirty deeds of those in power, hell, you're even legally allowed to report them, so long as they're truthful. Think about that the next time you get a call from the WH asking for an article to be retracted because it may hurt the image of our leaders and country. The truth does not hurt nearly as long as an uncovered lie, remember that as you try and live with yourselves. -----------------------------------------
Let me know what you think. Too harsh? Not harsh enough? Too watered down? This whole bashing the editors of the media via repeated and lengthy emails is kinda fun, any advice on how I can make my letters even more painful for said editors to read? Thanks,
Brian
