The "I support President Bush and Our Troops" magnets
I want a magnet to put right next to it that says, "Sorry, you'll have to pick one."

1. Would 1 go to jail for pulling off those stupid little two dollar magnets.
When I see them in parking lots they quietly fall off the car they are on.

2. I went to a carwash the other day, and on the door to the office
they had like 500 of those magnets. My guess is they don't put up with the rigors of an automated car wash too well :)

4. No they don't
I've seen quite a collection myself.

My favorite so far has been "Support Any Soldier" over a bumpersticker that said "I don't have to like Bush to support the troops" next to an Airborne military sticker.

I liked that.

13. I have what looks like a peace/victory sign with a purple finger
which I take to be solidarity with the Iraqi people who want peace in their country.

As opposed to Republicans sporting purple fingers they didn't earn because they didn't have to walk a gamut to vote.

15. You are most welcome
help get the word out. We need to declare war on the idea that slapping a ribbon on the car is 'doin your part for America'.

Stick it to the jingo-istas!

8. My "modified" ribbon magnets
I bought 20 magnetic "Pray for our troops" ribbons at the dollar store, and my children and I had fun "modifying" them. Makes a great rainy day craft project!

We cut pieces of yellow poster paper to cover the written messages. Then we used Sharpies and wrote in our own messages on the paper:

"Quagmire"
"Illegal War"
"End It"
"Cakewalk?"
"Lies!"

Short messages like these. Then we tape the paper down on the magnet with clear tape.

I wanted lots of them so that I could give them to friends, give them to strangers who give me a thumbs up, leave them random places where people might see them, like on a metal signpost or bus shelter or metal kiosk.

In fact, I need to make some more!

14. That's what I've never understood
Anybody could look at what Bush says versus what he actually does..and if they took an hour to read the truth on the internet they would know that Bush is like a near guarantee for the most misery for our troops.

Stupid is not what you need to win. And it's just blatant. The war has been a fiasco. Everything they've done has not worked since April of 2003. Not enough armor??!!! Not enough troops!! No post war plan!! Humilation and torture will get them on our side!!!

Even if you supported the war to the hilt-to see that Rumsfeld and the other ideologues care more about the idea of what "their war" should be than the realities of what actually happened and continues to happen.

Support our troops-fire Rumsfeld would have been a start.

16. funny, but those two things are diametrically opposed to one another
how do the military families feel about the base closings?

Oh, I know, "We're closing bases here-so we can build bases there"

18. My brother, former Army and a freeper
figures that it doesn't matter since they're not being disbanded, just moved. So the soldiers are fine, just not the surrounding communities. Thrillsville.
