Buy Your Gas at Citgo: Join the BUY-cott!
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0516-25.htm

From an article by Jeff Cohen found at Common Dreams.

"Of the top oil producing countries in the world, only one is a democracy with a president who was elected on a platform of using his nation's oil revenue to benefit the poor. The country is Venezuela. The President is Hugo Chavez. Call him "the Anti-Bush."

Citgo is a U.S. refining and marketing firm that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Venezuela's state-owned oil company. Money you pay to Citgo goes primarily to Venezuela -- not Saudi Arabia or the Middle East. There are 14,000 Citgo gas stations in the US. (Click here http://www.citgo.com/CITGOLocator/StoreLocator.jsp to find one near you.) By buying your gasoline at Citgo, you are contributing to the billions of dollars that Venezuela's democratic government is using to provide health care, literacy and education, and subsidized food for the majority of Venezuelans."

2. Thanks for the link
I didn't think there was one by me, but there's just off the freeway on the way to the food coop. :) I can stop and fill up on payday.

Do you think that's a better blue option than Costco? I know that Costco is really blue, but I don't know who supplies thier gas.

6. Snopes confirms the OP's suggestion
Alongside a quote from the Department of Energy's statistics about oil company's Middle East oil importation, snopes says, "CITGO is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the national oil company of Venezuela, so naturally most of its crude oil comes from there."

12. The Snopes article is great at explaining why this won't work
I wish I had thought to send it to my Repuke parents when they originally sent me this email. Thanks for posting it.

4. Excellent....
.... since I already buy most of my gas from Citgo. I've found that it is very good, yielding 1-2 more miles per gallon than most other brands (Chevron/Texaco are also good).

From now on, I will buy at Citgo every time unless it is an emergency, and so will my wife :)

8. Stop the clock. It took three years of saying this on DU before someone
said it outside of DU.

13. It won't work. Oil is a fungible commodity. Get a hybrid. Drive 6 days/wk.
etc.

11. Are they the same as Cosco? If not, what are the names of the gas station
stations that provide Cosco gas?
