HOLY CRAP!!! IS ANYONE REPORTING THE FACTS ABOUT DEAD DISSIDENTS?
I see NO reporting about the DEAD, unarmed, civilian protestors who were KILLED as they protested against a vicious corporacrat regime oppressing their people?

Go figure.

People are being OPPRESSED, are being subject to fear for their lives, desperation and DEATH.

Humanity can't stand being abused. History is proof.

We have gotten just at skilled at destroying the corporate cannibals as they believe they have at imposing their sick will upon us.

4. Yep
Them spouting this "freedom" and "democracy" is just a smoke and mirror ordeal to get supporters. In reality they could give a damn. Why else haven't they tried to give "freedom" and "democracy" to women in Saudi Arabia? They're buddy-buddy with the rulers.

Karimov picked the wrong scapegoats
By Simon Tisdall

President Islam Karimov was quick to blame the uprisings in the Ferghana valley region of eastern Uzbekistan on Islamists. That seemed to be an attempt to deflect criticism by the US, which gave his regime $21m (£11m) in military aid last year.

Mr Karimov's tactics have worked up to a point. While expressing concern, the Bush administration has initially been inclined to set the violence in Andijan, Pakhtabad and elsewhere in the broader context of its "war on terror".

But pinning the blame on Islamists, while convenient, appears at best misleading and at worst an attempt to justify the unjustifiable.
The 23 local men in Andijan whose trial and subsequent jail break sparked the killing spree were accused of membership of a banned Islamic organisation, Akramiya, allegedly dedicated to overthrowing the state. Akramiya was described by Mr Karimov as a "faction of Hizb ut-Tahrir", a fundamentalist group.

Dated Monday May 16

Timeline: Andijan violence

Hundreds of people are thought to have died when violence erupted in the Uzbek city of Andijan on Friday 13 May. Here are accounts of how events unfolded, based on media reports, witnesses and official statements . . . .

Quoting "confidential information", a correspondent for Uzbek freedom of speech group Arena is quoted by Ferghana as saying security forces received orders to "eliminate" the group behind the storming of the prison and seizure of government buildings. Troops attack the administration building at 1800 local time.

9. There's some truth in that
Edited on Mon May-16-05 10:25 PM by Jack Rabbit
Just because the White House (a known den of liars and thieves) is pushing it the line that these are Islamic extremists doesn't mean that a number of people in Uzbekistan aren't sympathetic to the kind of people who fly hijacked passenger jets into office buildings.

However, it would be a disservice to the Uzbek people to try to make it that simple. Karimov is a tyrant and there are more elements in Uzbekistan than Islamic fundamentalists who would like to see him out of power, preferably out of the country.

11. ONLY TYRANTS DELIVER REASONS TO SACRIFICE FREEDOMS!!!
Only "the people" can deliver FREEDOM. ONLY THE PEOPLE!!!

HOW SHAMEFUL THAT THE NEOCONS HAVE BETRAYED THE PEOPLE.

HOW SHAMEFUL THAT THE NEOCONS BELIEVE THEMSELVES SO SUPERIOR, AND ASSUME THE REST OF HUMANITY SO STUPID, THAT THEY WOULD LEAD US ALL TOWARDS SELF-DESTRUCTION.

The neoCONfascists are so disconnected from the rest of humanity that they cannot possibly have the capacity to "handle" power.

THEY CAN'T HANDLE POWER. THEY ARE RECKLESS WITH SUCH POWER.

SO BE IT.

IT IS.

12. PBS's The NewsHour covered it.
One man said that a hundred or so women and children were sitting out by {this fence next to the street] and they were sprayed with bullets, killing all of them.

But that's the NewsHour. I suspect the Rethugs will have it subdued in a few weeks.

Yours is a dark parody post. Unfortunate or not, the Simpsons flap will resonate further into the populace than this story will.

Remember that's why tyrants have always despised, criticized, silenced and even killed artists. It spreads truth in ways and to places that reports alone sometimes cannot.

Folks in power, particularly during times like these, see to it that stories such as this one have limited dispersal whenever possible.

Since JackRabbit provided a link I'm recommending the post.
