2. What's the goal?
I mean are you hoping to make people uncomfortable or unhappy at Disneyland? Or are you hoping to make them think a little? Or what?

Actually something light and fun might just be Homer Simpson's quote from the Simpsons this week. The whole thing.

Disney World's not the place for that sort of thing. Even if you tried, they are very well staffed and I bet anything you leave will disapear before hardly anyone sees it.

38. I love anything of this sort....
I wrote "Regime Change begins At Home" in every single public restroom I went in on a road trip we were taking from Phx to NOLA and back.
The bathrooms in Texas got a little extra TLC.

51. Based upon experience
I've been to Disney World nine times and know it well. They run a very tight organization there. Besides the obvious large number of employees (or cast members in Disney lingo) who are all over, there are also a large number of ones just mixed into the crowds.

11. We do something similar at amusement parks
Edited on Tue May-17-05 09:55 PM by Kerrytravelers
(including a Disney one) It's effective.

I'll PM you with the details. Independent action is what awakes the masses. At parks like this, you will reach a wide audience. Quite frankly, when American soldiers are dying for the greed of a few, no one should forget, I don't care where they are.

Edited to add:

Leave small slips of paper in the bathrooms, rolled into the toilet paper and in the seat dispensers. You have a captive audience that way. There are no cameras in the stalls. Most other places have cameras, so don't waste the time or the possibility to be caught.

It could be considered vandalism. Use small slips of paper. That way there is no damage to property.

19. I'm not flaming, but I simply disagree.
Quite frankly, there are people who wear pro-war and I love * t-shirts all over the place. They get their message out. When do we? Certainly not through the corporate media. I never say you Republicans are killing people, all * voters are terrorists. Nothing like that. Only the current casualty count and the fact that our "great leaders" haven't gone to a funeral. I never put opinions on their- just facts. They can not deny the numbers.

You know, I am so pissed, I'm not too concerned about pissing in someone's Cherrios. Maybe I'm being selfish, but the simple numbers need to get out. A sophmore hijink would be to take a big pen and vandalize or start a peace rally in the middle of an amusement park, or stage some sort of sit-in. That would be a hijink- maybe throwing a pie or salad dressing on the conservatives. Just leaving a slip of information is quite the opposite.

Like I said, I'm not flaming, but explaining why I disagree.

22. What if the facts were comparable to Disney experiences ...
Edited on Tue May-17-05 10:02 PM by FlemingsGhost
For instance--off the top of my head--body counts, money spent on Iraq, etc. are framed by Disney attendance, revenue, the number of people waiting in line at any given moment etc.

28. I've never thought of that. I leave my numbers everywhere...
grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters... everywhere. I just go with a straight number and that way I don't have to spend the time figuring out all the compartive statistics.

A friend of ours and fellow swing state worker started doing this during the campaign. He spread the idea out and now I can name about 50 people involved with our groups or friends of ours who do the same thing.

I rpint out maybe 20 and leave them around in a day... if even that many. Sometimes, I leave more if I'm going to a heavily rethuglian area. You never know who reads them. Fence-sitters, people who voted for but are now unhappy with * and also other people like us who are offended by the very thought of *. They may just copy the idea and leave the numbers places they go.

For me, personally, it's all about the numbers. I stay far away from sarcasm and hateful remarks. I just go for the numbers.

23. So why, specifically, do you want to ruin other people's vacations?
If you don't like Disney, then don't fucking go to Disney World.

That's not the place for you to impose your opinions on other people who are just trying to have a good time with their kids.

Jesus fucking Christ, there are some thngs that are more important than political opinions. Like the right of other people to not be slapped in the face with yours, when they're just trying to take a vacation.

27. Because, or course, you reserve the right to disrupt
other people's vacations, because your political opinions are the most important thing on the planet.

It's a damn safe bet that I agree with your politics (or I wouldn't be here at DU), but I don't believe in arguing those politics in a manner that has a negative impact on other people's recreation.

You see, I have respect for other peoples' feelings, and wouldn't want to bother them while they're taking a hard-earned vacation.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned that way, having respect for other people, but so it goes. Go ahead and do what you want to, because you're more modern and hip than I am, and I understand that you don't subscribe to those old-fart concepts like civility and community and manners. It's OK.

"ruined". pfffffffft At the weekly cornering I go to people are always saying bullshit like that "We just want to see a movie, we shouldn't have to put up with the likes of you" crap. I call bullshit. There are too many people having their entire LIVES "ruined" because of our actions, because of our tax dollars, because half of this country truly doesn't give a shit. Why should I give a shit if they come back to their car after their kids threw up overpriced corndogs and be forced to face the reality? How many Iraqi and American children won't be going to Disney World with their parents? Hell, how many children are six feet under right now?

30. Little Slips of Paper That Read "Visit www.downingstreetmemo.com.....
I like the idea of leaving slips of paper in the toilet paper rolls and the seat covers in the bathroom - not only in Disney World but all over the country. Disney has security camera's all over the place. They'll catch you anywhere except in the johns.

Something that just says "Visit www.downingstreetmemo.com" will pique many people's interest. When they get home they will look for it on the internet and be told about how *Co doctored the intelligence to go to war. If our MSM won't tell or print the truth - we have to get it out there anyway we can.

All DU'er's should do this in toilets all over the country - in malls, gas stations, church's, grocery and department stores, etc.

48. I really hate this kind of intrusive activism
I always tell the story of how Clinton spoke at my college commencement in '96. Gorgeous day. Lovely little speech. My buddy was salutatorian and gave a speech where he teased Clinton in Latin. And Clinton got the joke. And then, we did the high point of the ceremony where we march through the gate that no undergraduate walks through because legend says you will not graduate if you do. My best female friend and I hold hands as we do it. And march right into a bunch of pictures of aborted fetuses. Absolutely ruined the experienced. And made me even more pro-choice than before simply because I wanted those assholes to lose for having the gall to intrude on my day like that.

It also taught me that it's probably not wise to anger people if you want to bring them to your side.
