I wonder how my "Republican" neighbor will treat me tomorrow.
Weirdest thing happened earlier this evening when I went to a local market to pick up a few things.

My neighbor, who has always made clear his party orientation while I've been more oriented on our really cool neighborly relationship, was standing with a couple other folks. Apparently, this crew was talking about political stuff.

When I walked in the door, he laughed and asked, "Are you liberal?" and I guess he completely engaged in an assumption about my identity. I laughed and responded with delicious sarcasm, "My God! How did you know that I am one of those eeevil liberals? Yes, my friend, I AM a liberal but call myself progressive."

I swear to you, his color changed and his jaw dropped to the floor as I kept on walking. After I finished shopping, he and his circle were still standing at the entrance. I patted him on his arm, as I always have before. Not a word was exchanged.

I wonder,...will he treat me differently tomorrow,...just 'cause I am a liberal.

2. My Kerry/Edwards yard sign is still up
and the neighbors act no differently. Other than the 100% Bushie who decided to walk her dog in the other direction. We don't miss her at all. But she still has to drive past our house and "pretend" not to see the sign.

We just want our neighbors to remember we did not vote for W as this country falls apart at its seams. Good for you.

4. He knows you're smart.
He knows you're decent. He knows you see through his bullshit.

I can't see how that could make for better relations.

Try to be gentle.

5. Neighbors...
I have Republican neighbors on one side of me.. and Democrats on the other.

During campaigns, the R-neighbors don't pull down my political signs, and I don't tamper with theirs.. we all seem to get along just fine..

When either one of them (the D neighbors or the R neighbors) go out of town, we even take care of each others pets..

We've been to LOTS of street parties together.. but we leave politics out of the discussion ;)

7. Your neighbors are nicer than mine
My neighbors became a lot less friendly as soon as they saw my Kerry-Edwards yard sign and bumper stickers.

9. That sucks
There were a lot of Bush signs in my neighborhood and like one that I saw just one Kerry/Edwards sign and it stayed up the whole campaign.
