Every day a new missing case or the now seeming "multiple" cases of missing children and/or children murdered.

Anyone notice this?

No, it's just the BushCo controlled media's way of still keeping
up the appearance that it reports "news."

1. The media is dwelling on it -- because people watch this sordid stuff.
Raptly, I hear.

There's a name for it in local news station. Blood and guts leads the news on almost every station.

2. I doubt it. Statistics say that thousands are missing every year.
That tells me there are several every day! I have no idea how the media picks their stories, except the most recent ones did involve dead bodies in the homes.

I suspect it's the old "if it bleeds it leads" deal.

3. The Amber Alert made it so that the public is informed...
that's all. If anything the kidnap and murder rates are down, but I have no evidence to back that up so...

4. On a closely related subject;
With the roll-back of police on the streets , it seems like some kid is getting killed every other night here in the 'burgh... gangs are coming back strong ...school kids being shot on their busses.

5. We were discussing this at work today
It seems as though everyone in this country is in a perpetual sate of pissed-off. Except me - I'm enjoying watching them squirm - hopefully soon to implode. Then I will say to EVERYONE at work who voted for this a**hole, and gloated to me on November 3rd - I TOLD YOU SO!!!

6. Perhaps the source of the problem goes right to the very....
...highest levels of government, business and the wealthy:

This is less of a diary than a call for a diary. Or a dKosopedia entry. Or an ePluribus Media investigation. I spent an afternoon doing some research and I just don't know where to start. Here are some links:

7. I'm with you on this one, whistle...
If those in the upper echelons of society, economic class, or government aren't held accountable, then don't expect this sick, perverted problem to end anytime soon.

Republican and conservative political leaders reacted cautiously yesterday to a report in The Washington Times that key Reagan and Bush administration officials are ensnared in a federal probe of homosexual prostitution.

"There's no reason for cleaning anybody out (of office because they used homosexual prostitutes)," said Leslie Goodman, a spokeswoman for Republican National Committee Chairman Lee Atwater.

"It's a personal situation. It's a tragic situation if people have to resort to prostitutes," the GOP spokeswoman said. "But there's no standard for people in the federal government that's different than for the average Joe on the street."

8. what was once local news is now national news
I guarantee you that back in the day children went missing every day and no one gave one tiny **** in the media. In the 70s the streets were filled with runaways (which I'm guessing are still the overwhelming majority of teens) -- if you ran away you could hook up with other like-minded kids almost immediately. Now every kid -- and apparently every bride with cold feet -- gets trumpeted to the skies. Human nature hasn't changed but the willingness of the media to report on hard financial, scientific, or political issues has changed. Cheap "missing kids" hysteria fills the empty air time.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

10. You are so right! I was a newscaster in the 70's!
You took the words out of my keyboard! With the advent of CNN-esque "global village" crap, the manipulation is stronger. It used to take an aberation like Dr. Sam Shepherd (the inspiration for 60's "The Fugitive") to make national news.

Now, every time a child falls down a well, it's supposed to mean more than thousands of innocents dying elsewhere.

But yes, what used to be of local/state interest is turned into "national" interest. I see stuff on the Washington Post/AP wire that should have no interest to me whatsoever.

9. Next: The All Missing Children's Network
Have to keep the masses focused on some primal knee-jerk. Perhaps one day, the number of caskets returning from Iraq (and Iran) will change the focus.

11. Between that and the 18,000+ Americans who die yearly because of lack of
health care, I think America needs to be HUMANITARIAN INTERVENTIONed.*

:eyes:

*Just venting my bloody annoyance with some who think INVADING a nation and bombing the fuck out of tens of thousands is "humanitarian intervention" when there wasn't anything to bloody well intervene!

13. I hear that! And so does the person I saw today
who had the red, white, and blue bumper sticker which said, "These colors don't run..............the world."

(BTW I'm deep in enemy territory--a "red" state--so such signs are encouraging.)

Well, it would be easy to think that based on who gets coverage on TV.

14. Just more reporting..especially if they are young and cute
and white, and female, and blonde:(

On a serious note though..children ARE less safe now.

In days gone by, children played outside in neighborhoods where there were LOTS of Moms watching them. A strange person or car was noticed..
These days, Moms are mostly not at home..Kids are being "watched" by people who are watching lots of other kids...as a job..or kids are latchkey kids as soon as they can reach the lock.:(

15. It's all women's fault. If they had stayed in the home instead of ...
venturing out to work, then we wouldn't have this problem.

/SARCASM

At least that's what the so-called moral majority wants you to believe...that all societal problems are tied to feminism.

17. Abducted and murdered children are to 2005
what shark attacks were to the summer of 2001.

I doubt we'll find the rate has substantially increased.
